Brighe

Brighe bit her lip as she tried to think of how to get around the Sten's problem. "It will just be a few weeks longer. We could pay you, if you wanted." Brighe suggested.

The Elf knew that she could play the morality card on the Qunari, that she could essentially try and enslave him. But she had to try every other possible option first.

"I do not require money. Qunari are not easily brought off, except for the exiles, the Tal'Vashoth," he spat, crossing his arms.

Elves and humans confused Sten, to tell the truth. Their greed was one of the greatest mysteries to him. They pursued wealth as an end in itself. Qunari, however, pursued wealth as a means to an end.

Brighe

"Very well then. Syrien I'm sure you can show Sten the quickest possible way to get the Ka'Hirol plains." Brighe commented as she walked away from the two men.

Kegan

"Ok then. And I promise you...I'm not going anywhere."

Syrien

Syrien stood up and walked over to the Qunari.

"Qunari, we do need your help for a leg of our journey. My son-in-law freed you from a life of slavery, and we are helping you go back to the Ka'Hirol plains. Your people has some type of honor code, yes? Then do you not have some sort of obligation to help us in whatever we request?" Syrien inquired.

Rein

Rein nodded her thanks and hugged Kegan tightly. A few minutes later she let go of him and looked up, beaming at him.

"Ok, let's go back to the inn now."

Sten glared at Syrien, processing the information. It was true that the Qun forbade one from leaving someone that they were indebted to until the debt was paid off. He hated that a non-Qunari was using htat against him.

"Yes," he growled.

Brighe

Brighe rubbed her forehead in frustration as she let Syrien go ahead with their plan. It was immoral, but necessary. They had no chance of finding the Rebels in good time if they didn't do this.
-----------------------
Kegan

"Great, lets go." Kegan replied before standing up.

Syrien

"I am sorry to use that against you, but we do need your help." Syrien said apologetically. "Once you help us complete that part of your journey, you shall be free to go."

Rein

"Kegan? Can I ask you one last thing before we go?" Rein asked a little hesitantly.

(I'm assuming that he's in Valen's area. If not, I can edit.)

Valen whispered his instructions to the messenger bird and then held up his arm. The bird immediately took to the air and circled the area once before turning towards the capitol. He watched the bird go, until it had disappeared from sight, and then turned to head back inside the base, but then paused.

His brow furrowed and a barely audible growl escaped from his lips. Somebody was trespassing.

The priest turned abruptly, his dark clothing swishing at the movement, and he strode forward, heading towards the source of the disruption. If it was another animal again, from somebody not setting the Wards up right...

No, as he drew closer to the place, a strange scent filled his nostrils. It was neither human nor animal, but yet... He couldn't even find the words to describe it. It was like this scent didn't belong here, like everything was inferior to it, but there was also something strangely comforting about it, and something about it that made his stomach churn.

Valen slowed his approach as he drew near and moved more with the forest than before. He wanted to spot this strange intruder before the intruder spotted him.

(That was my intention, Casey. Maybe I should have mentioned it. Sorry.)

"Very well, then. Just see that you uphold your word, elf," Sten told him with a grunt before frowning a little. He spoke, "Where are the young ones? Fornicating again?"

*

Alquonde frowned as he sensed the rebel watching him. His powers may have been reduced since being trapped in this physical form, but his senses were as acute as ever. Was the rebel possessed? No. He had a demon sealed within him. He sensed much darkness within him as well as a lust for power. Poor boy.

"Good day," he announced.

(It's fine.)

The priest paused for a moment and then stepped out to where the stranger could see him. There was no point in trying to pretend that he wasn't there, when the intruder knew.

"Good day to you as well," Valen said with a smile. His red eyes scanned over the old man, seeing nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that would be triggering such a smell. Even as he tried to pin the smell, it faded away to that of a human's, an old man's.

The cougar inside him growled, wanting to tear this man apart, but the seals held the demon just as they always did.

"Are you lost, traveler?"

Nell gave C.C. a questioning look as she hummed, but he didn't say anything about it. This attention was more focused on Katie.

"I'm glad to be here still. Beats my work in the castle."
----------
Mab sat down and looked at Carlisle. She wasn't sure what he was going to say, but she was ready to listen all the same.

"Ok."

"Oh, no. I never get lost. I always arrive precisely where I need to go," the old man told him pleasantly.

He paused for a moment before continuing, "Anyway, I just came here to wait for some people I know. They should be joining the Rebellion sometime in the future. I confess that I do not know exactly when. The Timestream is hard to read."

Timestream?

"You are a seer then?" he asked, finding that to be the simplest of the explanations. Surely this old man didn't posses a power such as time travel? He had heard about that power, but knew of no one strong enough for such a task. If they were, surely this whole Tsuba business would have been taken care by now.

The priest stepped closer to the stranger, keeping the smile plastered on his face. "How many of your friends will be coming?"

(Like my new icon?)

Eiden made a yawning motion to show that he was bored. He decided that maybe following these people wasn't going to help him find the Heirs. He looked at Silence who just shrugged.

"Should we find a different way to find an Heir Eiden?"

"Maybe. Let's follow them for a little while longer."

(I'm jealous. For sure.)
Kegan

Kegan stopped. The invisibility spell was going to go out in about twenty minutes or so. They wouldn't have much time to get out.... But Kegan decided that that didn't matter all that much. "Of course you can."
-----------------------
Brighe

Brighe turned around and looked at Sten. "Most likely." She stated cynically. "And Sten, I would appreciate it if you didn't tell Kegan or Rein about this."
-----------------------
Katie

"I'm sure it does." Katie agreed light heartedly as she tried to ignore C.C.'s teasing. "Of course I wonder if we'll still like it two months from now when it's snowing and we're still walking across the land." She added, an odd moment of pessimism around her.
------------------------
Carlisle

Carlisle sat down on the grass, pulling his knees up to his chest before replying. The clouds behind Mab caught his attention for a second. "The rain will be here within half an hour...." He calculated to himself. But Carlisle's attention quickly went back to Mab as he realized what as going on.

Carlisle's throat got tight for a second as he realized he didn't know where to start, but suddenly, the Doctor just started speaking. "I'm one of the Heirs who competed in the competition two years ago." He informed Mab.

(You are. And the new text in my sig.)

"It doesn't matter as long as I'm with you....guy. I like being with you and C.C. and some of the others," he said, blushing slightly.
---------------
Mab was caught off guard. His need for escape made sense and his worry about having someone else along too. She bit her lip and looked down at the grass as if it was interesting to her.

"The competition was a stupid idea," she said softly.

((I'd actually try to use that pick-up line but it'd get me slapped, no doubt, and I don't like pain.))

Rein

"Do you think we might be able to have....another child, one of these days?" Rein asked hesitantly, giving Kegan a hopeful look.

"I really do want to have another child, if possible. I'd love to add more members to our family, Kegan, if we could."

(=D No one will ever be able to run away!)
Carlisle

Carlisle nodded in thanks at Mab's words, though he didn't reply. "Yes, well, after Tsuba became Empress I was placed into prison without trial. Eventually it was decided that I would fight in the newly constructed Colosseum as a form of punishment." He continued on.

The Doctor's mind went back to his first day in the Arena. It had been a wide assumption by many that he would be killed quickly. There were so many faces in the stands, all of them people of higher power. And in the main booth, the Empress herself sat. He remembered how her expressions changed each time he won a fight, eventually killing one of the Nobleman who had volunteered too fight Carlisle himself. That was the end of his first day.

"Obviously I didn't die... "
--------------------------------------
Katie

"I'm glad. I like having you around."
--------------------------------------
Kegan

Kegan stopped and stood in shock for a few seconds before suddenly replying. "Of course. I mean of course we'll have another child. Not now, of course... But when this is all over...."

"But you didn't do anything wrong, did you?" Mab disliked the Empress even more now. It seemed unfair what she did to Carlisle and probably the other Heirs. "You didn't ask to be born into the bloodline."

She paused and continued staring intently at the ground.

"Did you know Chris is in the bloodline too? She was too old to compete and she says it's very thin for her. But you can't tell anyone that."

"Of course. He seems to have a low opinion about this type of thing," Sten stated, remembering the boy's thoughts on the Qun.

*

"In a matter of speaking," Alquonde told him with a mysterious smile. God and, at times, humans could see into the time-stream, the plan for this world, but it was always hard to interpret and harder still to place the dates of future events.

"Your deal the demon," he continued, "It was... foolish. Don't be surprised. I'm among the very many people that can tell when there's another presence in the body. That power of mine hasn't diminished..."

Carlisle

Carlisle's eyebrows raised at the news. "....Well I'm glad that she was too old at least. With the group we had...well quite a few of the Heirs were generally unpleasant." Carlisle informed Mab before chuckling to himself. "And no... there was no way of denying the Empire when they ordered you to compete. Heaven knows I tried...well many times. " Carlisle added before chuckling nervously at the absurdity of his situation. It was either that or cry.

The weirdest part of it all- and I didn't even realize this until after the competion was over-was that all the Heirs were related. That just made everything even more...amusing? Ridiculous? I don't know how to put it but it is certainly something." He admitted before stroking his chin. A beard was growing there....

"It kind of makes what happened with Tsuba even more disgusting."
--------------------------
Brighe

Brighe nodded in reply. She tried not to show it but she was extremely thankful and relieved that the Qunari had agreed when he didn't have to.

Rein

"Great. I look forward to that day." Rein said brightly, smiling at Kegan. She walked over to him and hugged him tightly before letting go.

"Ok, now let's leave."

C.C.

C.C. hummed her romance ballad a little louder, winking again at Katie as she walked with them.

Katie

Katie's mouth actually dropped open as C.C.'s humming actually got even louder. Though she quickly composed herself, smiling as she said, "So C.C., do you intend to ditch us all and become a troubadour?"" She asked sarcastically.
----------------------------
Kegan

"Great." Kegan said before kissing Rein's forehead.

It took them fifteen minutes to get down the stairs and out of the church, though admittedly Kegan did pick up Rein and run once they were down the stairs. The boy was laughing after they had gotten a good distance from the church. "Well then... I suppose we should get back to the Inn. "

"Well at least you aren't brothers and sisters," Mab pointed out before looking up at Carlisle finally at his last sentence. She had this weird feeling in the pit of her stomach. "What do you mean?"
----------
Nell blushed a little deeper at C.C.'s obvious humming. He was always insecure about his crush on Katie, but it seemed Katie didn't like being teased either.

"She might be good at it too," Nell added.

C.C.

"Perhaps, but then I'd miss all the fun I'm having with you two." C.C. replied with a humorous smirk.

Rein

"Yep. Though it'll probably be hard to convice Brighe we weren't out fooling around, considering how long we were out." Rein joked.
