Succession: Rebellion

Brighe

Brighe stood still in silence for a few seconds as she stared at the Qunari. She wasn't frightened by him, but she was a tad confused. "And may I ask why that is, Sten?"

Kegan

"...ok." Kegan replied before carefully standing up. "Come on Atiya, time to get off the horse for now." Kegan informed his Daughter before picking her up and theatrically placing her on the ground.

"Why don't you go play with your doll for now Honey, Daddy and Mommy need to go talk to Grandpa for now."

Katie

"Yes, well.... His spelling does get a tad better eventually. Though I suppose that's not saying much. Anyways the second letter has a bit more...substance to it." Katie stated as she handed C.C. another letter. This one wasn't as clean as the previous one. Parts of it stained by something, Katie never liked guessing what it might be. "I got this one three weeks later."

The letter itself said, "helo agan Katherine sory fur speling your name wrong lastime. i am glad that yue replide thou. its true that i was in the capital in the conp competeton heir fite. yes Susanna missed yue wen she thoght yue had die. Caesar help her thou. she was angry thou. i think she was kind a meen. but she did no dezerv to die i think.

Rein, Atiya

"Ok!" Atiya said cheerily before rushing off to play with her dolls. Rein stood up with Kegan and approached Syrien hesitantly.

"Before you even ask, yes, you may go. I see your earlier display." Syrien interjected before either of them could ask, briefly glancing from his tending of the carriage. Rein blushed but nodded her head happily. She turned to Kegan with a wide smile.

"You have both kept your promises, so you may leave for now. But do not be gone for long." he advised.

C.C.

"Interesting. What's next?" C.C. asked after finishing reading the letter. She could identify what it was stained with, but she thought it best that Katie not know.

"I have a mission to complete," Sten told her, crossing his arms, "I have to report to the Arishok about the condition of the Gaborian Empire."

Katie

Katie quickly handed C.C. the next letter, which looked very similar to the second. "I received this two days later." She stated before sitting back.

The letter was much shorter then the previous two, and it said, "no I dont think she was crazy. Caesar help her and they love eechoter. She did tri and kill witch and other heirs thou. and that meen captain to."

Katie nodded her head after she was sure C.C. had finished reading. "And that is why I was just...wondering. C.C., is it true? Did she....?"

Kegan

"Oh... Thanks Syrien." Kegan replied before gripping onto Rein's hand and walking away quickly. The last thing he wanted now was for Brighe to walk out and see them.

Brighe

Brighe nodded her head in understanding. "I see. So you think that by traveling with us you'll be able to understand Gaboria and it's people a little better. Very well. Once Syrien and I have decided where we go next I'll be sure to tell you."

Rein

Once they were well out of sight from the others, Rein grabbed Kegan by his shirt and pulled him into a kiss. She pulled out after a moment and with surprising force, tossed Kegan to the ground. She proceeded to land on top of him and lined up with him so they were face-to-face.

C.C.

"No, of course not." C.C. dismissed with a wave. "Susanna was misguided, but never crazy."

Which was a bold-face lie. C.C. didn't want Katie to know the truth, though. She deserved to remember her cousin in a better light.

Katie

Katie nodded her head as she tried to accept what C.C. was saying. She hoped that the Mage was right. After all, Susanna had never been like Caesar or anything. Katie was sure that her Cousin would never harm anyone except in self-defense.

But parts of the letter had to be true... Katie remembered how Caesar had reacted to Susanna's death. Rhys may have been cold, but he always did everything for a reason as well....

Then again, maybe Katie just didn't know Caesar or Rhys all that well. She would have never assumed that Rhys could have killed her Cousin until it had actually happened, after all. The last time she had seen Rhys before Susanna's death the Captain had reassured her that he would do what he thought was best for everyone... and C.C. would lie to make her feel better. Katie knew that.

All of these thoughts rushed through Katie's mind in a matter of seconds as she stared down at the other letters. "You should know the other four afterward aren't important. But the last one I received...well it was just forty-five days ago." Katie said as she tried to change the subject.

The Eighth letter was burnt around the edges, and covered in blood. Parts of it were entirely unreadable, unfortunately. But four words could be clearly seen near the bottom of the note. "see you again soon."

Kegan

Kegan was just as eager as Rein, but still, he was surprised when she pushed him down. "I love you so much." Kegan whispered as he looked at Rein's face. The Half-Elf leaned up for a kiss immediately afterward, glad that he could be with Rein without having to worry that either Syrien or Brighe would ruin it.

Rein

Rein put a finger to Kegan's lips, giggling at his enthusiasm. "I love you too, Kegan. But I have to tell you something first."

C.C.

C.C. couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine as she saw the contents of the letter. She tried to push the bad feeling away, though, and hoped that letter didn't mean what she thought it did.

"Come on, we better go back to Nell now."

Katie

Katie could tell C.C. was worried by her reaction, but she didn't let C.C. drop the issue just yet. "The letter says again C.C. ...Which means we already know each other somehow. ...And the blood?" Katie pointed out as she held the letter in front of C.C. again.

Kegan

Kegan leaned back for a second, slightly puzzled. "Sure."

C.C.

"It's nothing, I'm sure. It's only meant to frighten you." C.C. assured.

Rein

Rein took one of Kegan's hands and moved it toward her stomach. She smiled at him with great joy and tried to speak.

"I'm....Kegan, I'm....I'm pregnant." she said, looking brightly into his eyes.

Katie

Katie held the letter down and bit her lip, hoping C.C. was right. But this time, Katie was sure that the Mage wasn't. "I don't think he is. I mean, he's been relatively kind to me throughout the letters, trying to help me actually." Katie leaned down towards the other letters to make her point.

"The Fourth letter was him thanking me for helping him with spelling. The fifth was him saying he had to go for a while. The sixth was him saying he was back. The seventh was....advice on what to do with Rhys." Katie informed C.C. while collecting the notes up.

"I really don't think that this is just some sick joke." Katie stated as she stood back up, the papers in her hand.

Kegan

Kegan's mouth dropped open in shock at the news. "....Like really? I mean, pregnant pregnant?"

Rein

"Of course! What other kind of pregnancy is there?" Rein retorted, flicking Kegan on the nose. "I wouldn't kid about this, Kegan. We're going to have another child in five or six months."

C.C.

"Look, we can talk about this later. Right now, we need to finish packing up camp and leave. Ok?" C.C. asked, hoping to finally drop the subject. She knew exactly who the letter was from, but the Mage did not want to face the truth. To think that that monster would be after Katie next....it was too horrible a thought to think of.

Kegan

Kegan sat up after a few seconds, a dazed look on his face. "Wait.... five or six months? Rein we've only been with each other again for a few weeks..." Kegan pointed out nervously, his ignorance on the Humage body shining through.

Katie

"Fine...." Katie replied, now actually feeling really frightened as she walked with C.C. back to the camp.

C.C.

"Look Katie, everything will be fine. No matter who sent that new letter, I'll make sure to protect you. I'm the most powerful magi in the world. No one can beat me." C.C. said, putting her arm around Katie.

"I'd never let anyone harm you, Katie. Truth be told, you're almost like...a daughter to me now." she admitted.

Rein

"You dolt!" Rein chided, lightly knocking on Kegan's forehead. "Pregnancy for Humages is three months shorter than that for most other species. Because of magic or something like that."

Katie

Katie looked down at the ground for a second, feeling honored and very comforted at the same time. "I... thank you C.C. ." Katie replied as she hugged C.C. suddenly.

Kegan

"Oh thank the Gods." Kegan replied as he began to breathe easier, now very relieved. "Well then....does Syrien know?"

C.C.

"You're welcome." C.C. replied, hugging Katie back.

I'll protect you, Susanna. Caesar will never harm you, I promise that. You're like a daughter to me, Susanna. And I would never let anything bad ever happen to my children."

The memory of that statement came back to C.C. without warning. She bit her lip and refused to cry at her failure to keep that promise. This will be different, she promised herself. Katie will not end up like Susanna.

Rein

"No....I wanted you to be the first to know." Rein replied, kissing Kegan on the lips. Her smile faded into a frown a few seconds later, however.

"Wait, did you not think it was your child?"

(Well I'm going to bed now.)
Katie

Katie let go of C.C. and smiled at the Mage, oblivious as to what was going on in her mind. "I'm gonna go check up at Nell now..." She replied before walking away. Though Katie stopped after she was a few yards from C.C. "I'm sorry for making it look like you came onto Nell that was a joke I swear and I am sorry." Katie said quickly to C.C., running away immediately afterward before the Mage could peace together what had been said.

Kegan

Kegan looked away from Rein after she had asked the question, his cheeks turning a bright red. "Of course not.... I would never think something like that."

C.C.

"Wait....you did what?!" C.C. demanded as Katie ran away. So she had been right! Katie had been behind that incident. Why that little...! Determined to get her revenge now, C.C. ran to catch Katie.

Rein

"You'd better not." Rein chided, jabbing him in the chest with a finger. She frowned at him for another few seconds before she switched to a seductive smile.

"Now, why don't we celebrate the good news?" Rein asked, leaning in to kiss Kegan.

Epiphany pulled her hood over her head. "I don't want to talk about it." Epiphany never really looked back to the past. "It was just something I did during one of the challenges. It was to see which of the heirs would take the next throne."

"She killed an Amazon!" the other Amazon scolded.

"It was necessary!" Epiphany scolded back, "She broke a a law of the gaborian empire. If you were fighting for the throne. You would probably do the same thing." Epiphany turned her back on everyone and gazed around the dungeon they were in.

Sunny was a little surprised that Savina agreed to it, but she nodded. Maybe sleeping with a girl wouldn't be as awkward as it was with the guys. Or at least Sunny could hope.

"Sounds like a plan."

"We should get new clothing once we reach town," Mab stated, though she didn't mind being next to Carlisle. His body was beginning to feel warm and it was a nice feeling. It reminded her that she wasn't alone.

Carlisle

"True. That will certainly have to be a priority." Carlisle agreed as he released Mab. "But first we'll have to get some money...somehow." He pointed out while looking back behind him, towards the now very close Forest. Hopefully the freezing air wouldn't be as bad once they were in the tree cover.

Katie

Katie quickly ran through the camp, laughing as she ran past the Soldiers. A few minutes later though, Katie had finally found Nell. "...Hey...there Nell." She greeted the Inu between heavy breathes.

Kegan

Kegan smiled as Rein leaned in towards him. "Sounds great." He replied while leaning up himself.

Savina

Savina flashed Sunny a smile. "Great."

C.C.

"Gotcha!" C.C. declared as she tackled the breathless Katie to the ground. A little overboard, yes, but C.C. did want to get back at her for what she'd done.

"Now, would you mind telling Nell what you did?" C.C. asked in a sweet voice.

Rein

Rein smiled back and kissed Kegan on the lips. She held the kiss longer than the last one, and let her hands wonder to Kegan's pants.

Nell was startled by Katie's sudden appearance but he was happy too.

"You ok Katie? You look like you just ran."

Then C.C. also appeared out of nowhere, tackling Katie. "Am I missing something?"

"We could steal some," Mab suggested, a wicked look on her face. "Or I could do fortunes for people. I'm not as good as Chris obviously, but I can do it kind of well."

Maul

Maul led his team as they got to the top of a hill which would be overlooking the city of Margon. There they would resupply and switch out the soldiers who Tsuba had decided to transfer elsewhere. They reached the hill's peak, which allowed them all a majestic view of the grand city. Maul gazed out...

...And saw only burned ruins where a marvelous city would be. A stunned silence overtook the team as they all reached the top to see the remains of the city.

Sunny gasped in horror at the sight of the burned city. It was a completely surprising and awful sight. Sunny knew who was probably behind it, but to burn an entire city? She couldn't imagine what must of taken place.

Carlisle

Carlisle's eyebrows raised in surprise at Mab's first suggestion. He would have never guessed that the Girl would be willing to take money from other people. But her second suggestion seemed like a more moral one. It was possible... creating any effects necessary to fool citizens. Desperate times called for desperate measures, after all.

Carlisle was about to reply when another sharp breeze blew through. He shivered once again. "We...should get into the forest now." He whispered to Mab.

Katie

Katie just laughed as C.C. sat over her. "What are you talking about C.C.?" She asked, a wicked glint in her eyes.
She knew that C.C. wouldn't accept that reply. But Nell would believe her, and besides, it was hilarious to finally see her friend be affected by something.

Grace

Grace sat back down as she looked at the other three Amazons. She was feeling very confused now, and she wasn't sure what to think. Apparently the new Prisoner had been in...a challenge of sorts? Something to do with deciding who the next Leader of the Empire would be...which must have happened quite a while ago. But now because she had followed the law, the other two were shunning her.... Grace sighed quietly to herself. "I really should have paid more attention to the political climate of the Empire....." Perhaps if she had she would have recognized the new apparently important Prisoner, and maybe she could have also avoided being captured altogether.

"Well I suppose it really doesn't matter now. We're all in the same situation, after all." Grace pointed out to the three others in a whisper.

Savina

Savina stopped in place as she looked down at Margon. It was...shocking, to say the least. That such a magnificent City could have been destroyed. And it must have happened quickly, since it would seem that they were the first people to come on to this sight.

But then the Soldier realized something else that was even more frightening. The flames, the smoke, the craters, and the time of day all matched her visions. "....We don't find Nebi...." Savina muttered in realization. Unless the Heir had come to Margon and decided to waste a day or two destroying the entire city... her guess about the visions she had had were wrong. And not only that... but two of the Soldiers with them were going to be killed as well.

"Maul!" Savina shouted as she walked past the other Soldiers towards their Leader.
