Succession: Rebellion

Kegan/Brighe

Kegan quickly pulled Atiya nto his shoulders, a silly grin on his face. "Well then... lets be off." Brighe replied before pulling both of the bags onto her back. A strong breeze blew past them as they began to head East down the beach.

Savina

Savina stopped as she recognized the Kaleesh from yesterday. "Umm, what do you need my skill for?" She replied, feeling weird about phrasing it that way.

Rein, Atiya, Syrien

The group continued to travel east, eventually leaving the beach and heading into the jungle. They traveled for two hours, taking a few breaks during that time period. As they began to enter a clearing, an unpleasent smell filled the air. Rein held a hand to her nose, trying not to breath in the horrid smile. Atiya (now riding on Rein's shoulders) did a similiar action.

It took Syrien a few moments, but he recognized the smell. He held out a hand to stop the group.

"I have a suspicion as to what this smell is. Stay back while I investigate."

Maul

"Empress Tsuba has ordered me to assemble a team to find Heir Nebi. I thought that it would be good to have a Seer on the team, to help us in our quest to track and capture him." Maul explained.

Savina

"Oh.... I would be honored to be able to serve the Empress in such a big way." Savina answered. Oddly enough it was a lie though. She knew very well she was in no position to deny Maul. "Just let me retrieve a few things and I'll be ready."

Kegan/Brighe

Brighe stood still as she shared a passing glance with Syrien. It wasn't hard to smell burnt flesh. Even in as vibrant an environment as the jungle.

Maul

"Very well."

Syrien

Syrien walked forward through the clearing until he came across an abandoned carriage...and the rotting corpses near it. Each one of them was wounded horribly, with dry blood all over their bodies and across the surrounding area. His eyes narrowed as he saw the name scrawled across the carriage in blood. Syrien headed back toward the other quickly once he was done.

"Rein, Kegan, make sure to cover Atiya's eyes. The sight ahead is not a pleasent one."

Nell's face was red and his ears stood straight up. He turned his head away in embarrasment. But when Katie came out, he resumed following her and C.C. He saw that they were meeting people, but he couldn't place the others. He wondered if he should leave.

"Ok then," Mab said ready to go. She would pack, but she had little to take in the first place. What she had on her was water, small amounts of food (mostly meat) and other various items that she was going to return since they were offerings. But she decided to keep them incase she needed them for later.

In the lower rings of the Gaborian Capitol a person wearing a long beige cloak, with a hood over their head is causing a bit of a stir. He walks through the streets asking about a name that few would utter in front of the guards. Hazuki. The name of a rebellion leader is not one you want to get caught saying, unless you have some sort of death wish. The lower ring of the city is one that reacts as though one body. Information traveled fast, but avoided the guards, and soon everybody knew of the figure in the brown cloak, and would avoid his presence. But the person hidden beneath the cloak still persisted, asking those brave enough to speak with him of the Rebellion that was happening in Gaboria, while the cruel Empress sat on her throne, terrorizing people as she pleased.

Carlisle

Carlisle nodded his head in reply. "I presume then that we are in the Khyn District of the city? I can't think of anywhere else they would place a Temple." Carlisle commented as he looked out the Entrance of the Temple. "....I don't know how we're going to get out of this city...." He admitted.m"I can't teleport us either. Never learned how to..." Carlisle informed Mab as he looked back at her.

"And we will never be able to get past the Guards at the gates. They'll probably recognize my face...."

Kegan/Brighe

Kegan nodded in reply.

"Atiya, we're gonna play a game now. Ok?" Brighe said as she put on a false cheerful attitude. "Lets see who can close their eyes the longest while Grandpa Syrien leads us to the city, ok? If you win, I'll buy you something nice." Brighe offered.

Savina

Twelve minutes later, Savina walked out of the room, armor on and a bag in her left hand.

Katie

Katie walked out into the yard where everyone was meeting. Everyone looked so tough and determined... Thank goodness C.C. was the leader of one of the teams....

"How good are you with heights," Mab asked.

Sunny moved to the yard, after being told to head there. She looked around at the others already there. She was feeling nervous again. She didn't like to be in a crowd.

Atiya

"Ok!" Atiya said excitedly. She closed her eyes tightly and put her small hands over them, humming cheerfully. Rein looked toward Syrien with some concern, wondering what exactly they were going to pass.

"Good. Let us go, then." Syrien led the group toward the discarded carriage, and the bodies littered near it. Here, the horrible smell was strongest. Atiya wrinkled her nose and whined a little, but didn't complain, in fear of losing the contest by accident. Rein stared at the tortured corpses in mute horror. She would have screamed if it weren't for the fact Atiya was there.

Rein noticed something written on the side of the carriage On the carriage, scrawled in dried blood was this simple message:

C.C.

"Don't worry, they won't bite. Well, most of them." C.C. assured, giving Katie a teasing smile.

"Oh, and don't worry, you'll be sleeping in a tent with me while we travel. You won't have to brave it out with the men. But, of course, then you'll have to worry about me." she joked.

Maul

"Good. Follow me, please." Maul said, and began to lead Savina outside of the palace.

Liona emerged from her quarters with a bag packed with everything she thought she'd needed. She sped up a little bit when she saw Maul and Savina from yesterday, heading out of the palace.

Kegan/Brighe

Kegan clinched his teeth together as he saw the message. So the Humage was still alive, and close, by the look of how recently the bodies had been killed. Kegan put his hand on Rein's shoulder and tried to silently comfort her while he held Atiya up with his other hand.

As Syrien lef the group, Brighe held up the rear, just in case they were attacked as well.

Katie/Savina/Rhys/Senka

"Don't worry C.C., I've found ways to cope with your bad snoring." Katie replied jokingly.

The air was still as Savina followed Maul out into the yard. She only recognized a few people, one of them being the Knight she had fought alongside with yesterday....

Rhys stood on by the exit of the Castle as he scanned the yard, checking to see just how many people the Castle would be losing from it's defenses.

Carlisle

Carlisle bit his lip in reply. "I can climb pretty high, but I'm pretty slow...."

"Then follow me," Mab said turning to walk to the back of the Temple. She didn't say how she knew how to get by without being seen though. Carlislie didn't need to know about her rebellious streak. "If we exit through the back we can reach the rooftops of some houses. Most people won't notice us since there is few out at this time."

C.C.

"I do not snore!" C.C. scoffed, giving a mock-scowl. She then leaned in close to Katie, making their lips almost touch.

"Of course, that wasn't what I was talking about, you know."

C.C. then pulled away and giggled, hoping to get an embarrassed response out of the young girl.

"There will be two teams, and you shall be apart of mine to search for Heir Nebi. If you recquire anything during our travels, I will pay for it. You and the other women shall also have your own tents." Maul further explained to Savina.

Rein

Rein appreciated the gesture, leaning closer to Kegan as they walked. Finally they passed through the bloodied area, and soon the horrible smell from before was gone. Once they were long gone from the site, Rein gave a sigh of relief.

Carlisle

"Ok..sounds like a good plan." Carlisle replied as he began to think of how far it would be to the north wall of the Capital. Carlisle may have been a slow climber, but he was pretty agile on his feet thanks to his years in the Colosseum. Unfortunately, he wasn't very quiet because of his years in there as well.....

Katie/Rhys/Savina

Katie rolled her eyes at C.C.'s flirting. "Yeah you wish."

"Thank you... Is that all, Sir?" Savina asked as she followed Maul.

Kegan/Brighe

"Congratulations Atiya, you won." Brighe informed the little Girl after they were far enough away from the slaughtered caravan.

Mab just smiled. At least their journey started off with her in the lead and not dragging behind Carlislie. She started to climb onto a roof and scanned the area.

"It's all clear. I don't see anyone, but if I do either flatten yourself or hid behind an object."

She started to move along the roof and climbed up onto another.

Rhys

"Lieutenant Riot!" Rhys shouted as he saw the Soldier standing in the Yard.

Carlisle

Carlisle studied the roofs to see what Mab meant. "...There's nothing big enough around here that I would be able to hide behind." Carlisle pointed out as he followed behind the Girl.

"Yes Captain Rhys," Sunny said as she tried not to jump in surprise. She sheepishly made her way over to him. "Can I help you with something?"

"Well maybe not for you," she said, with a small smile. "But we should be good. I've been using this path for a while and one time I did leave."

C.C., Maul

C.C. chuckled at Katie's response. "Oh, am I not good enough for you? My, you're picky."

"Yes." Maul said, nodding. "Everyone should be here, now. You may go join the group where Lord Baruti is."

Atiya

"Yay!" Atiya exclaimed, opening her eyes. "I win, I win!"

"Congradulations, Atiya." Rein said, giving her daughter somewhat of a weak smile, still a little shocked from earlier.

"So, how far do you think we have to go, Brighe?" Syrien asked.

((By the way Toko, I think I'll have Sunny join Maul's group, if you don't mind.))

Kegan/Brighe

Kegan forced a laugh at Atiya's enthusiasm.

"Only about two more hours to Flan. We can get a horse and carriage there for a nice sum... Then three more hours to Lyanor." Brighe answered Syrien.

Katie/Rhys/Savina

Savina nodded in reply before she headed towards the group of people around the old man. Savina was pleased to see that she was in the same group as Liona. At least she knew that she was traveling with someone pleasant and normal. At least, that was her impression of the Knight at least...

"Oh, C.C. you wont hold it against me, will you?" Katie asked mockingly.

"Lieutenant, I've made certain arrangements for you while you are traveling with the others. I hope you don't mind setting up your own tent?" Rhys asked Sunny rhetorically as he handed over a small pack.

Carlisle

"Oh? So you didn't always want to be a Priestess then? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

Sunny nodded at Rhys and took the pack. She was still unsure about it, but she did not want to raise questions as to why.

"Of course I don't. Thank you Sir."

Nell tapped Katie on the shoulder since he wasn't sure what was going on.

"No. When I first joined Chris at the Temple I didn't like it at all," Mab said, thinking about to those days. "I would always sneak out instead of studying, though Chris didn't really reprime me too often."

Syrien, Rein

After another two hours worth of travel, having only three more breaks during that time, they all finally reached the city of Flan. It was a relatively small town, definitely nothing like the capital had been. Rein looked around the simple city, as did Atiya, a look of wonder on both of their faces.

"I've never been to any other city in the empire aside from the capital. Compared to the Imperial City, this city seems so...quaint, so small. I had gotten used to the sight of the capital, I thought all cities in the Gaborian Empire looked like it." Rein commented.

C.C.

"Of course not." C.C. replied, giving a smile. She gave Nell a curious look as he walked over to them, tapping Katie on the shoulder. Just what was he doing here?

Rhys/Katie

"Good job, Soldier. And, if you need to communicate with me at any time on your journey, there's something in there that should help." Rhys informed Sunny, whispering the last part before he left the yard.

Katie smiled as she saw Nell, though before she could ask what was going on she heard C.C.'s question. Katie bit her lip as her mind decided to do something childish and possibly stupid. "Nell's coming with us, I thought. I mean, who wouldn't want an Inu to help with tracking?"

"What made you change your mind?" Carlisle asked with genuine curiosity.

Kegan/Brighe

"Well that's because the Capital is the third largest city in the Empire. Flan only has about eight-hundred thousand citizens within it's walls." Brighe replied as she walked with the others into the city.

Nell, who still was not sure what was going on, was kind of happy with what Katie said. His tag began to wag and he didn't even feel the need to be embarrassed by it.

"Really? That's awesome."

Sunny looked at the pack then to Rhys. She smiled, glad that she had ended up with him as her senior. She went over to her group, waiting to go.

Mab scurried over a board that she had placed between two buildings as she comtemplated the question.

"I started to like it. Being a Priestess. I felt like I was connected to something greater than myself and that I could eventually use it to help people. I guess I kind of grew up."

Baruti surveyed the group of people in the courtyard. It seemed that Tsuba was getting increasingly worried about her position and rightfully so: there were still people out there that could challenge her. He frowned a little. Still, he disliked leaving the Capital for any length of time except for when he selected Heirs. He had grown used to the city and the political games the nobles played. He would miss manipulating them.

He looked around impatiently. Where were the peons he was to command?
