Nix
When Nebi's words finally registered, Nix could hear his dreams shattering like so many panes of glass. He couldn't walk out on the kid now, if he did, it would only confirm that he was a greedy card sharper . While he was, in fact, greedy and people (most notably some very pretty young women who missed both their dowries and their would-have-been-husband.) did consider him thief, he had an image to maintain.

"Serves you right Nix..." He heard Gaita mumble. He sighed and continued walking, suddenly thinking this trip was going to be longer than he thought. 'Speaking of which....' He thought. "So Nebi, Now any magic?" Nix asked, as both a subject changer and a genuine question.

"Blood magic is an abomination," Sten commented as he listened to what Brighe was talking about with a frown, "Among the Qunari, mages that practice such forbidden magic have their tongues cut out."

*

"I'm sorry," Nebi told him with a shrug, "You just assumed I was a Noble so I went along with it. You can leave if you want. To answer your question, I am very skilled with certain kinds of magic, most notably pyromancy. I also know swordsmanship. I could take care of myself if you two left me."

Nix
"Pyromancy eh?" Nix said with a glimmer in his eye. He let out a loud luagh. "Self-taught I hope!" he said in between chuckles, thinking of when he first learned fire magic. 'Nearly burn my face off' He thought, sending him into another laughing fit.

Nix looked at the side of the road. There was a small outcrop of rocks a few feet away. 'Perfect' He thought.
"Come on." He said, gesturing at the the rocks. "Lets see how well you would fair without us." Nix loved testing his metal against other magically imbued people. When he won, his ego got a boost. And when he lost (which was rare) he always learned something.

((sorry about that quot earlier. Thought I might as well use the space.))

Kegan

"Yes well....I will win her back this Yule, just watch me." Kegan replied, feigning offense at his Wife's comments. "Of course we need to be careful, the Qunari here might become Atiya's favorite while we're all asleep." Kegan joked as he looked back at the former and rather gruff Slave. Oddly enough, he still didn't know his name....
-----------------------
Brighe

"Yeah. I'm just...tired." She replied, meaning it in more ways then one. The Elf jumped off of the Carriage and stretched a bit, wanting to get any kinks out of her neck. She kept pace with the carriage though, and replied to Sten suddenly. "Well at least we agree on something, Qunari." She replied as she stood behind the carriage. But afterward, the Elf quickly ran past it as she ran out of sight.

(I don't know. And sorry, Magus, but I thought the carriage wasn't that big.)

Sten nodded and watched the elf go before leaning back and looking around. These elves and humans were strange, but he could get used to them. As long as he reclaimed his sword, the behavior of foreigners didn't bother him.

Syrien

Syrien kept the horses going, though made sure not to go too fast so Brighe could keep up with them. He grew concerned when Brighe disappeared from his view, and had the horses pick up their pace.

Rein, Atiya

"Oh, we'll see! I still have many tricks up my sleeve, you know." Rein said, playing along. Atiya giggled some more and called Kegan an idiot a few more times. Rein smiiled happily as she gazed at Kegan and her daughter. It was moments like these she would really look forward to for many years to come. Hopefully, though, they wouldn't always spend them on the run.

"Hey mommy?" Atiya suddenly asked. Rein blinked and came out of her musing.

"Yes dear?"

"What animals were you and daddy fighting this morning?" the toddler innocently questioned. Rein blushed a little and tried to come up with a response.

"W-What do you mean, sweetie?"

"Daddy and you were both yelling a lot this morning. Aunte Brighe said you were fighting another animal. What was it?"

Rein blushed even harder as she stuttered for a response. "Well...ah...well, dear..."

Kegan

"...You know that Baruti that Mommy said she didn't like, Atiya? It was him." Kegan answered, thinking quickly. Though his cheeks were already a bright red.

Nebi grinned a bit as he walked over to the stone outcropping, a perfect arena for pyromancy as he didn't have to worry about starting a forest fire. He thanked the gods for such a good lucky. He took a stance on the stone and gave Nix the universal "Come on" gesture.

He spoke, "I'm ready when you are."

(Eh, let's ignore it, okay Magus?)

"It rota toyya tor nor nix fo yalt fi go" Nix said. He began to circle Nebi, leaving multiple images of himself until Nebi was surrounded. The clones were mere illusions, they could nither physicaly touch Nebi or cast spells. But, they did serve as a proper distraction. "Tell me." The Nixs said in unison. "What was your first mistake?" They asked as they prepared a water spell.

Rein, Atiya

"Oh? Did you beat him?" Atiya asked.

"Yeah, yeah, we did. We beat him good." Rein answered. That seemed to satisfy the girl's curiousity for the moment and Atiya began to play with her new doll. Her mother sighed with relief, though resisted the urge to groan.

"We...really need to learn to be more...quiet. It's only a matter of time until Atiya decides to 'help' us battle the animals, and I don't think she needs that psychological trauma." Rein muttered to Kegan.

Syrien

"Brighe! Brighe, where are you?" Syrien shouted with concern, looking around the passing forest for any sign or sight of the Elf.

((Sounds good to me, I guess.))

Brighe

Brighe continued to run, not hearing Syrien's cries. She was already a mile ahead of the carriage at least, and as she ran down a hill trees began to surround her. The Elf felt her heart pumping, for the first time in quite a while.

It was almost like a song. The wind blowing through the trees, her foot steps hitting the ground, her heart pumping in her chest. It was a beautiful feeling. One that she had no problem getting lost in.
--------------------------
Kegan

"Well we can't hide it from her forever. Would it really be a bad thing if she knew?" Kegan whispered back, being somewhat Naive with the entire thing.
---------------------------
Rhys

The Captain sat alone in one of the many private and unused rooms throughout the Castle. Years ago, Rhys had locked the one entrance, hiding the key in his study. But now seemed like as good a time as any to break his way back in, to be alone for just a while.

Syrien

Syrien picked up the speed of the carriage, and urged the horses to go faster. They complied, and Syrien searched more for any trace of Brighe. Just what was that foolish woman thinking, going ahead of them like this? It was irrational and provoked unnecessary risk to them all. The elf started to call out for her again, this time trying to sound louder.

Rein

"Kegan, let me put it this way: imagine if you were a child, and ever walked in on the former Emperor and your mother being....intimate. Wouldn't that traumatise you at least in some way, and bring nothing but utterly embarrassing memories for you in the future? Besides, she's too young to learn about the facts of life." Rein argued. Thankfully, she had been glad something like that had ever happened between her and Syrien. Rein never knew if he had ever had any relationships while at the palace, but at least she knew walked in on him. That definitely would have been emotionally scarring, not to mention horribly embarrassing.

Kegan

Kegan's eyes grew wide as Rein brought up the former Emperor, and not just because of the horrible mental image it gave him. Now the Qunari knew....and while that might not be a bad thing, it certainly wasn't a good thing.
------------------------
Brighe

Brighe continued to run, the river tattoo around her body beginning to slowly move as the magic in her body began to activate. But before anything could happen, the girl heard Syrien's voice. "Huh?" She asked, not knowing why the Elf was coming after her. But as her attention changed for even just a second, she ran into a tree branch, falling flat on her back right afterward.

"...Enanaida!" Brighe sword loudly after almost twenty seconds of lying still.

Rein

"See what I mean?" Rein asked, oblivious to her unintentional slip up. "Explaining what we really do to Atiya wouldn't really be good for her at all. Not to mention how embarrassing for us it would be to explain."

Syrien

Syrien stopped the horses and jumped off the carriage. He rushed to Brighe's side and knelt beside her.

"Are you alright? Do you require any medical attention?"

Kegan

"Of course...Rein. I suppose you are right." Kegan replied as he avoided looking towards the Qunari.
---------------------------
Brighe

"No. I'm fine." Brighe replied as she slowly got back up. "Is there anything wrong, Syrien?" Brighe asked afetr she had stood back up and stretched a bit.

Syrien

"No. Why do you ask?" the Elf asked with a curious expression.

Rein

"Good." Rein replied with a smile. She frowned a moment later, however. "Why have we stopped? I thought Syrien and Brighe might be giving the horses a break, but it seems to be taking too long."

Mab climbed up and looked down, then to Carlislie.

"So should we climb down or jump? Cuz if we jump I don't think we'll be going anywhere soon," she half-joked, though there was a chance they could get hurt jumping.
------------
Nell climbed up next to Senka, his ears drooping. He actually had to resist the urge to whimper. He didn't want to give her anymore reason to treat him like a dog.

Nebi felt himself smirk a bit as he looked around at Nix's clones. He raised an eyebrow and shrugged, "I don't know. It would have to be having sex with this hott Mage for a little too long."

He laughed a bit and gestured with a his hands, having a wave of fire encircle him and expand out to engulf the clones, "I can say that it was a good idea for me to learn this trick."

*

Sten regarded Kegan and Rein with a stoic expression, leaning forward but not saying anything for a full minute. At last, he stated in a monotone, "Animals."

Kegan

Kegan rolled his eyes at Sten's remark. "You know, we could easily kick you out of this carriage and keep moving on."
----------------------
Brighe

"Well I was only what, two miles ahead of you? You must have really overworked the horses to catch up."
-----------------------
Carlisle

"We'll climb down... Using magic would be a waste of energy at this point, and jumping would almost certainly kill us."

Rein, Atiya

"Daddy, Mommy! Look at the new dolly Aunte Brighe got me!" Atiya interjected, happily showing her doll to the both of them. Rein smiled down at her daughter and ruffled the girl's hair.

"That looks very nice, Atiya. Did you thank Aunte Brighe?"

"Yes! What do you think of it, Daddy? Is it pretty?" Atiya asked, turning to her father.

Syrien

"I was concerned about you. Going ahead of us wasn't exactly the safest thing to do. All sorts of dangerous animals and monsters inhabit the various forests of the Empire, not to mention all the bandit camps, the slaver convoys, and many other dangers we face out in the wilderness. And, of course, the search parties Tsuba has sent out to search for us, no doubt." Syrien answered.

Nix jumped back and moved out of the spells field. The clones, now destabilized by Nebi's attack, vanished, the normal light green glow of their dispelling devoured in a sea of flames. "I meant our battle ground...." Nix said as he shifted his weight to one leg and crossed his arms. "There is nothing here for you to burn....Though it seems you've compensated nicely."
If it was any other would-be magician, Nix would have been mostly un-impressed (that the boy knew a fairly high level earned him some respect) , but what Nebi had said before he attacked interested him.

He began to mumble as a jagged triangle of light appeared in his hand. This spell was not illusion, and would not be so easily dispelled. The Koyousetsu was the prized spell of a mage two emperors back, and Nix had the good fortune to come across the basic notes of the spell. After months of attempts (and many more back fires) he successfully learned the spell.

He threw the triangle over Nebi's head. "See if you can stop this one!" Nix yelled as he crossed his arm, getting comfortable for the coming show. The triangle straightened as soon as it was perfectly over Nebi. It exploded and a thousand shards decended at insane speeds.

((sorry. MIGHT only get one post today. ))

Nebi felt his eyes widen as he saw the shards approaching him. He made a hand sign and spoke, "Doton!"

Wit that said, he sunk into the ground before the shards could touch him, just in time too. He grinned as he emerged from the stone pavement behind Nix. He smirked at him.

"Why block when you can dodge?" he asked with a grin as he formed a handsign. He spoke, "And, there's this thing with stone: I can go all out."

With that said, arrows of fire appeared and flew towards Nix at a high speed, faster than real arrows.

*

"But you wont," Sten noted. He gave off the notion that if he was any other person, he'd be shrugging right now.
