Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

"I really don't know," she said. Her face drew up into a thoughtful frown. "I guess they were showing me off, but I haven't heart about any concrete arrangements or bids. Knowing my dad, though, he could be keeping it under wraps."

"Oh," Sokka told her, adopting a similar expression to hers. He shrugged a little, "Well, you're free to hide out in the South Pole until they come to their senses or come traveling with me. I've been meaning to look for my space sword."

"I'll help you look for that. I'm pretty good at finding things," she said, grinning. Her relationship with her parents was good, as far as she knew, but she still liked having time to herself and her friends. "Besides, you gave it up to save me. I'm obliged to help you find it, or buy you a new sword. Whichever you prefer."

"Well, searching for it with you sounds fun," Sokka told her with a grin, taking her hand and leading her to the dance floor, "That reminds me. Do you still have that space earth I gave you? Let's see any of those fancy nobles give you something like that."

"Oh, they've tried giving me stuff. Maybe I'm not up for marriage, but guys are still showing up with trinkets and gifts for me." She grimaced. "Not much fun." She pulled her hand out of Sokka's, and pulled up her left sleeve. "And, yeah, I still have the space-earth. I'd never get rid of it."

The space-earth was still in the form of a bracelet, wrapped around her upper left arm. It was rather simple in design, but Toph considered it her most precious possession.

Sokka grinned, happy that she kept his gift over the years. It stood up on her slightly pale arm, probably from being forced to be indoors all the time as a kid. It looked like it was meant to be there.

"I'm glad," he told her, "And I'm even more glad that I'm a guy and do not have to deal with said suitors. Still, free stuff is always nice..."

"It's not if that free stuff is useless." Toph snorted. "Most of it was jewelry. I don't care for that stuff. The space-earth is sweet because I can do stuff with it. That, and you gave it to me." She smiled. "That's mostly the reason I kept it."

A few days ago, she never would have told him this; but now that they were, more or less, a couple, she felt comfortable sharing her true feelings with him.

Sokka blushed bright red. He seemed to be doing this a lot these days. Nevertheless, he had a pleased expression on his face.

He smiled back, shaking his head a little. He still couldn't believe he missed Toph's feelings for him. Looking back, it was obvious. He spoke, "I'm glad you like it, even more so for the reason."

"Yeah, well..." She blushed, and then returning to her usual self she dragged Sokka closer to the area set aside for dancing. "C'mon, let's dance, Snoozles."

"Okay," Sokka told her with a shrug as he followed her to the dance area. When they reached the area, he placed his arms around her waist with a smile.

"Hey, remember when Aang and Katara did the Kataango?" Sokka asked her, proud of his own joke.

"How could I forget? We all had to help with that party," she said, smiling despite herself. Sokka had the corniest jokes. She draped her arms over his shoulders. "Are you trying to suggest we try something like that?"

Sokka blushed a little, an image unbidden coming to mind of him and Toph doing all the crazy and kind of intimate stuff his sister and Aang did at the party.

"If you want," Sokka told her with a grin.

She laughed a little. "Now, not so fast. I don't know if we can do that kind of dancing. Are we as bendy as those two idiots? But if you're that interested..."

Toph had picked up on his heartbeat, and knew he had either blushed or thought of something rather heated.

"Hey, if you can do it, I can," Sokka told her with a grin, sensing a challenge, "Just as long as I don't throw out my back."

"Don't expect me to do any jumping and twirling around, then," said Toph. "That's really not my thing." She took in a deep breath. "Are we really gonna do it, or are we just gonna stand around talking about it?"

"Okay," Sokka told her with a nod before grinning and beginning to dance with her, "I guess we should start now, shouldn't we?"

"If you say so," she said.

Her mind raced. She could remember Katara and Aang doing this, but that did not mean she had ever done it herself. Most of her experience came from more formal dancing, thanks to tudors and the like. Still, if it was like bending moves, maybe she could do it...

As the music began, Sokka began to lead Toph through the movements, first imitating the light steps that Aang did when when he danced before swinging Toph back and forth as the music picked up. He obviously was making up what he forgot as they went, but he still thought he was doing okay, if stumbling just a bit when he tangled his feet.

It did not take her long to realize that they were both making up steps as they went along. It was okay, though, because this meant this dance would be their own, and not just a carbon copy of someone else's. It made it special.

Toph followed Sokka's lead for the most part, but she also used dance moves of her own. She listened to the music and improvised as best she could, and it did not take her long to start enjoying herself.

Sokka grinned mischievously as the song progressed. He spun her around before dipping her, managing to nail the move almost perfectly.

"And people call me clumsy," he commented.

"Well, you are. You just like surprising people sometimes," she said, chuckling. The dip had taken her by surprise, and now she was blushing noticeably. "That's not too bad a thing, either."

"Well, that's good because I'm not going to stop," Sokka told Toph with a grin, enjoying the way her blush lit her face, "Wouldn't want to bore you."

"That's nice of you," she said, with a shake of her head. She grinned too. "I do hate getting bored."

"Yeah. It's no wonder you get along with Mai so well," Sokka told her, "She's still not mad at me about the whole, breaking-that-knife-thing, right?"

"I don't know. Maybe you should ask her," she said, chuckling. "Just as long as I'm there to watch that."

They were back on their feet now, and the music was beginning to speed up.
