Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

Sokka nodded, grateful for her assistance while at the same time wishing he didn't need it. He gripped his sword with his free arm, just incase someone attacked them. He looked over at Toph seriously.

"I'm fine," he told her, "I'm just worried about you. You're bleeding."

"Oh, that," she said. "It's nothing. Don't even think about it."

She would have to remember to get the wound looked at as soon as she could, so that Sokka did not have to see it. She did not know if it was serious or not, but he would definitely think it was.

Toph helped him away from the garden and into the palace. There, next to a set of statues, she had him sit down.

"I have to go back and help. Think you'll be okay?"

"I'll be fine," he assured her with a smile, "It will take a lot more than a couple of darts to kill me. Just be careful, okay?"

He leaned against a statue, "I just wish I could join in on the fun."

"Maybe next time. There's always a next time," she said. And she was grateful there would be. She had been scared, really scared, that she would lose him just now. Toph hugged him again and, not caring who was watching, kissed him on the cheek. "Don't do anything stupid, Snoozles, okay?"

Soka blushed, but smiled happily as he hugged her back. Suddenly, getting hurt didn't seem so bad. He rubbed his cheek and nodded, "Of course I won't. You just follow your own advice. I wouldn't forgive myself if you hurt yourself badly."

Zuko was in a state of shock. How dare this person come here attacking them wearing that mask. He almost couldn't believe it. How did he get it? Who was he? And why was he attacking them?

Jet went to his seat and grabbed his swords. There was no way he would have came here without them.

Haru and Shizuka exchanged confused looks and raced back inside. Haru went over to Suki to see what was going on, while Shizuka just stared at the Blue Spirit.

"Suki what is happening?"

"Well, it looks like some Fire nation rebels are attacking us," Suki told Haru, flipping one of the red-masked wearing rebels onto his back, "Not everyone was happy with the war's ending."

Mai frowned and unleashed as few more knives at the the rebels, readily killing three of the nearby attackers. She scowled as a couple of the men headed for their leader, whom Toph took care of nicely and threw a couple of shurikens, impaling them in the back.

"Looks like they're not so brave without their leader," Mai intoned with a frown.

"I don't suppose some of them would be," Haru said, punching one of the rebels in the face. He was becoming more adapt without his bending although he was a better earthbender than fighter.

Jet began to attack the rebels. It felt good in a way. Like he was finally able to get back at the Fire Nation even if these were just rebels.

"I'm not the one who's going to be getting hurt badly," she said.

Toph set off without another word. She raced back into the garden proper, and she immediately took out two rebels with a pillar of rock and dirt. That captured the attention of their fellows, and they rushed forward to take her on.

She stomped her foot, and a great wave of dust and pebbles shot up. It knocked the rebels off their feet.

The masked man watched as the rebels began to ran away. Well, that wasn't how he planned things. He shook his head as a few flat out screamed when when they were being attacked by the earthbending girl.

Suki smirked, watching them try to escape only be cornered by Fire nation guards. She never thought they'd be grateful for them.

Mai elbowed Zuko and pointed towards the man in the Blue Spirit mask, "I think that one's the leader."

Toph continued to fight the stragglers who tried to escape the garden now that their plans had been foiled. She used a variety of small-powered but effective attacks, knocking several out or injuring them so that they could no longer move.

But after a while, her own injury caught up with her. It was hurting her badly by now, and the blood-loss made her dizzy and sick to her stomach. After taking out one last rebel, she had finally had enough.

Toph sat down near one of the garden walls, out of breath and exhausted.

"Of course he is," Zuko said, his anger starting to build. He was no longer in shock. "I can't believe this is happening. We have to get everyone out of here. I don't want anyone getting hurt. I refuse to let another war get started."

With that said Zuko made his way over to the man in the Blue Spirit mask.

Mai sighed, knowing that it fell to her to get everyone to safety. When Zuko was angry like this, there was no dissuading him. She ordered the guards to lead everyone into the palace before finding Toph with a bleeding back.

"You should have that looked at," she told her with a frown, "Where's Sokka?"

The Blue Spirit, meanwhile, smiled under his mask and waved at possibly the most firebender in the world. He spoke, "Nice wedding here. The refreshments are to die for."

"Outside the garden. I made him hide near some statues," said Toph. She leaned her head back against the wall. "He wasn't in any shape to fight."

(My inner fangirl must tell the Blue Spirit: I LOVE YOU! XD)

"The food is for invited guests only," Zuko replied. "But of course even gratecrashes would know better than to cause a fight." He bended at a rebel who was rushing towards him. "Who are you and what do you want?!"

Haru nodded at the guard who came over. He went over to Jet who looked like he was having a little too much fun. Still he was bleeding from a cut on his arm and leg.

"Jet let's go!"

He just stared at Haru as if he didn't understand what he meant.

"I mean it. Now." Haru grabbed his arm, half dragging him away.

Shizuka wondered what to do. Help the others or run. She wasn't one for running away, but it seemed that everyone was being asked to leave.

Still looking at Zuko she hesitated.

Mai nodded, "He was one of the first to fall, right? I'll help you inside. Sokka should be there too. We'll find him."

"Well, I was hired by some angry-looking military guy," the masked man told him with a shrug, "He was a typical rebel leader. He wanted me to kill everyone here so he could declare himself Fire Lord, restore the Fire Nation to glory, blah, blah, blah, continue the war, blah, blah, blah, burn down Earth Kingdom villages. The usual."

He glanced around at his retreating forces. A great deal of them were killed or captured while most of the others ran, though some stayed to fight, "I tell you what, I tell you everything I know, you capture and burn the guy at the stake, and then you let me go."

"We don't have to find him!" said Toph, cross because she was tired and hurting. "I already know where he is! And why should I have to go inside. I'm just taking a breather. I'll be okay in a couple."

"Why would I do that," Zuko asked, taken aback at the guy's calm demeanor. "And what would you get from doing that?"

"He was probably dragged inside by the guards," Mai told her with a frown, resisting the urge to sigh, "The guards are looking for survivors everywhere now that most of the fighting is over. One of the doctors would insit on looking at him."

"Well, I was only paid to attack and I just did. Now I'm captured and looking for my own skin," the guy told him, "I'm selfish."

Zuko thought about it. He wanted to know who this guy was and he wanted to know who was attacking them. But he wasn't sure if he could trust the Blue Spirit. It was times like these that he hated being Fire Lord.

"If I agree than until you give us what we want we will have to hold you prisoner."

Toph scowled. "Yeah, well... We should still make sure he's not at the statues. Just in case, or whatever."

"Fair enough," the Blue Spirit said with a shrug, "As long as I don't die, I'm happy."

Mai nodded and led Toph by the statues before finding Sokka there, leaning against the statues tiredly.

"It's over already?" Sokka asked before frowning when he saw Toph was injured, "Are you okay, Toph?"

"Just dandy," she said. "Never been better. How 'bout you?"

She was mostly concerned about him, anyway.

Zuko started towards the Blue Spirit than stopped. He motioned to two guards to grab him.

"He is to be under constant watch is that clear?"

Mai shook his head and signale for a nearby guard to help Sokka walk. She deadpanned to Toph, "Is he always this thick?"

"Oh come on," the guy complained as he was seized by the guards, who nodded in confirmation.
