Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

"Eh... What?" Aang went a deep red. He stuttered, embarrassed. "Yeah, I've been... I've been real nice to her, Sokka. You know I'd never treat Katara badly! I love her!"

Sokka looked serious for a moment before breaking out in a grin and wrapping an arm around him before giving him a noogie, finally laughing aloud, "Yeah, I know Aang. If it was anyone else but you, I'd be worried."

"You... You..." Aang scowled and shoved Sokka off him. "You're terrible!" he said, trying to decide if he wanted to be angry, irritated, or amused. "You actually enjoyed making me sweat!"

"Well, I had a very good teacher," Sokka admitted with a grin, gesturing towards Toph, "You weren't the only one learning something when she was teaching you earthbending."

"You're welcome," said Toph, chuckling.

Aang sighed and shook his head. "Sometimes I wonder why I even trust you guys," he said.

"Because we're your best friends," Sokka pointed out, "And you secretly like it when we do this."

"That's news to me," said Aang. He stretched out his arms. "Now can I get back to the meal?"

"Sure," Sokka told him with a shrug, glancing longingly at his own plate, "I'm hungry to. Care to join me, Toph?"

"I think I should be the one asking that," said Toph. She grinned at him and patted the seat next to her. "Make yourself comfy, Snoozles."

"They must have some cactus juice in my drink," Sokka explained as he sat next to her and shoved a piece of meat in his mouth with a satisfied grin.

"Why do you say that?" asked Toph. She returned to enjoying her desert; she loved chocolate cake. "You're not acting all crazy yet." She listened as he ate, and chuckled. "You sound happy enough to me."

"Hey, it's a wedding," Sokka told her with a shrug as he continued to eat, "You're supposed to be happy. Especially when the boring part is over."

"You mean the actual wedding?" The earthbender finished off her cake and sighed as she leaned back in her chair. "Well, I'm happy and full right now, so I guess that qualifies."

"Yeah, me too," Sokka told her with a grin as he leaned his head back. Idly, he asked, "Where's Zuko and Mai? I haven't seen them since the wedding toast."

"Maybe they're off wandering around somewhere. There are a lot of people here. It'd be easy to get lost in the crowd." Toph gulped down her drink.

"Yeah. That's true," Sokka admitted with a shrug, "You know, if I ever get married, it won't be this big."

"Same here," she said. She set up her feet on the table and made herself comfortable. "All these people? Makes for a lot of vibrations, and that gives me a headache."

"Not to mention no one actually being able to know each and every one of these people," Sokka told her as he took a sip of his drink, "Who wants a stranger at their wedding?"

"There's an old Earth Kingdom proverb that says a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet," said Toph. She snorted. "Sounds a lot like something Twinkle Toes would say, huh?"

"Him or Zuko's uncle," Sokka told her with a grin, "For an all-powerful Avatar, he's kind of a softy, isn't he?"

"Yeah, he is." She took another long gulp of her drink, and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "I don't think any training will change that about him. Whatever. I think I'd be creeped out if he was any different."

"Me too," Sokka agreed before shivering a little. He didn't think the world was ready for an aggressive Aang yet. He'd hate to imagine what the Avatar would do to the the hunters. He finished the rest of his drink, relaxing a litte with a grin, "What do you plan on doing after the wedding?"

"Eh, I dunno. Maybe I can stay around for a bit. I'm in no hurry to get back home just yet." She relaxed as well. "After that, maybe start getting ready for Earth Rumble. It's coming up soon. There's some new guys out there who think they can take me. Ha!"

Sokka smiled wryly, "Apparently they don't know you. I think I'll take up traveling for awhile. Home is great and all, but I'll have plenty of time to spend there when I'm old, complaining about how ungrateful today's youth is."

He grinned a little, "Dad's already okayed it. I can't let Katara have all the fun while I stay in the house all day."

"I wouldn't expect you to do. Deny it all you want, but you have as much of an adventurous spirit as Aang." Toph poked him in the arm and laughed. "At the very least, you like running around and checking out all the new weapons and inventions."
