Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

Toph outright blushed. What had he just...? It took her a moment to recover, and realize what he was really trying to say. She laughed and sat beside him.

"Says you. I doubt I'll ever get married."

"It's not my fault I'm too much of a free-spirit," Sokka mock-pouted, "Or that I like a different sort of woman, not the giggling or stay-at-home ones."

He smirked at her, "At least I won't be alone. You're way too independent to settle down."

"That's what I just said," said Toph. She smiled, however. "We can both be lonely and single together, is that it?"

"Yeah. That' won't be so bad," Sokka told her with a grin, "We can make fun of the others together then."

"Sounds fun," said Toph, grinning too. "I always enjoy making fun of the others."

And it was nice to know that, no matter what, she would have Sokka as her friend. He was that good.

She would have slapped herself, if Sokka hadn't been there.

He was a good person. So why was she so afraid? He wouldn't just push her away because she told him the truth.

"Look... Can we talk somewhere private?"

Sokka looked up, surprised by her tone. He looked longingly at his food before shrugging and replying, "Of course. We can try going to the garden. I doubt anyone's there now."

"Okay, let's go there," said Toph. She stood from the table. "Um... You can bring your food with you, if you want."

Three years ago, Sokka might have done just that, but he shook his head. He shrugged, "If it's important enough to be private, I guess I need to listen to you without stuffing my face. I've gotten a little more mature over the years."

He grinned at her, acknowledging the joke at his own expense.

"That's taking into account you were ever mature in the first place," she said. She could not help it. Bantering was a part of their relationship. "Well, okay then."

She led him to the garden she had found the previous day. It was just as empty now as it was then. Toph was glad. She didn't know how this would go, and it was a personal matter. She felt afraid, knowing she was about to take a deep plunge, but she was going to do it either way.

So she went ahead and said it.

"Sokka, I like you."

Sokka felt his heart skip a beat and his face redden considerably. He stared at Toph for a moment, actually shocked.

"Really? I mean, how long?" Sokka asked in amazement, not put off, but genuinely happy at the idea. His head was filled with confusing thoughts, but he did know that the this information made him feel good and he was staring at Toph with rapt attention.

"A while now," she said. There was no turning back now. She gripped the railing surrounding the garden. "Since I was like twelve." She chuckled, nervously. "I mean, it was basically a huge crush then, but I just kept liking you more and more. It was actually kind of annoying."

((Woah! Who knew a roleplay could move this fast just being gone for five days. Can someone please sum up what's happened so far? And do i still have to post my profile on Katara?))

(Okay, well, basically, there's the reception, Suki admitted she liked girls, everyone's arrived, and Toph and Sokka are admitting their feelings for each other. Oh and you can jump right in)

"No kidding," he said with a nervous smile as he blushed even more, "If it helps, though. I like you too. I mean, you've always been there for me and I love hanging out with you. It helps that you're beautiful, too. I just never realized it until I ran into you again."

"Do you like me for me, or is it 'cause I'm wearing a dress?" said Toph. She sighed. "Look. We just met up again. I don't think you really know what you're feeling. That's okay. I'm willing to wait. Not matter what you decide, you're still my best friend, and I want you to be happy."

"Well, I certainly hope I don't like you for wearing a dress," Sokka told her with a shrug, "I still like doing the same stuff with you though. I guess we should hang out like we normally do while I sort out my feelings and stuff."

"Let's just enjoy the party, okay?" Sokka asked her with a reassuring grin, "I can give Aang the big brother talk."

Haru and Jet sat opposite of eachother. They didn't know exactly how they ended up at the same table, but they did.

"You sure you aren't stalking me Jet? First we have the same room and now this."

"Will you LET it go?!"

Haru muttered something and looked out onto the floor.

Zuko let out a big sigh of relief. It was all over. He was very glad though. He was finally married to Mai. Everything (well almost everything) was going well.

Shizuka walked through the room. She saw Zuko and Mai at the head of the room and headed towards them.

"Why do I have to sit between you two?" Suki asked in exasperation, "Can't you two get along for once in your lives?"

Mai raised an eyebrow at Shizuka's prescence and deadpanned, "Zuko, you know my rules about going to bed."

(LOL. Couldn't resist.)

"Sounds interesting," said Toph. She could already imagine Aang shaking in his boots. "I think I can agree to that." She turned towards him. "So... We're good, right?"

"Of course," Sokka told her with a smile, "I'm not saying no or anything. Just, well waiting to see if I feel the same way."

He smirked, "Now let's go see Aang."

"Lead the way, captain," said Toph.

She was glad this had turned out okay. She still had her best friend, whether or not he returned her feelings. That was blessing enough.

Sokka grinned and headed to one of the tables closest to Zuko's and Mai's. Sure enough, Aang was there enjoying himself.

"Hey Aang," Sokka told him, trying to hide the smirk in his voice.

"Oh, hey, Sokka," said Aang. "Hey, Toph." He grinned at his friends. "How are you enjoying the party?"

"It's been great. I think it'll only get better," said Toph.

"Yeah. I just want to talk to you about something, Aang," Sokka told him, attempting to sound serious, "You've been traveling with my sister for three years, right?"

Aang blinked. He had not been expecting that. "Well... yeah, we have," he said. "You know that, Sokka."

Toph pretend to be interested in the desert platter she had just found. It was pretty tasty, so it was easy to pretend.

"Have you been treating her right?" Sokka asked, now sounding serious, "You've been dating her for quite awhile. I want to make sure you haven't done anything Me or Dad wouldn't approve of."
