| OK, it has been put off long enough. We need a Legend of Korra discussion thread. Us NWRPers hail from an Avatar fan site. Thus to show the roots which we are proud of, I have created this thread... and It's totally a cop show. Young rebellious female in the big city, with an older mentor character. A rebellious anti bending group preparing to strike. You can already hear Tenzin going "I'm too old for this shit." and calling Korra "rook."
No but seriously, what are your thoughts on the new Avatar series?

| I'm actually excited to see a steampunk themed show on Nick now. One of my wife's friends is OBSESSED with steampunk, and it's an element that hasn't been portrayed before on cable, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it will work out.
Personally, I think it would be cool if Korra pulled rank on Tenzin. One of those "I was your father in a past life and I'm not afraid to ground you." Kind of deals.

| I wasn't sure if anyone would post in a Korra thread on here since most of us still frequent ASN at least part of the time. But people post there so quickly and come up with so many different things that when you finally decide to post what you had to say is now irrelevant. Anyway, I think Korra sounds like it will be pretty good. I just kind of wish we had some more focus on a male waterbender, and I know that the last water tribe avatar was male, and the past two were also male, but we had Katara all through ATLA and it just might have been a nice change of pace, but that's not really important I guess. I'm hoping that the Anti-Benders make good use of their cause, I was wondering where that was in ATLA, figuring at least someone was bound to think badly of benders after all this war, and it looks like I may have been right, and they just took their time to build themselves up, or they sowed their mindset to their children. Or it's completely new. But still, it sounds like a really good issue to base an antagonist group on. | |

| Actually on the subject of an anti bender group that did sort of happen. It was the plot to the first video game. How I remember that I do not know, but yeah, some crazy chick starts building bending robots to get rid of benders. And then there's the Avatar bot.
In any case, I was (and still kind of am) opposed to the whole steam punk thing. I'm willing to accept it in this series because it's about 70 years later and hey, they made a big ass drill right? But I felt that they focused too much on it in the first series. Simply because it was supposed to be magic kung fu.
I'm a little excited, but also a little concerned about the steam punk idea. It just seems like it could end poorly. For example, steam powered mechs. And we all know guns are coming into play. So I'm interested to see how that plays out.

| I am so excited for Korra. There is so much craziness on ASN it's reminding me of the season 3 hiatus with guessing and debating on what is going to happen.
All I know is that Korra is badass and so is Bolin/Mako, I support Korra/Jinora (which I have dubbed Jinorra until a better name comes along) and Naga is epic.

| My joy cannot be expressed through just these letters, but in my opinion, that date cannot come fast enough. | |

Friend obsessed with steampunk. -wave- Obsessions aside, I got to see the leaked episode and I am moderately pleased with it. The story has a good lead off, it seemed a bit hurried, but I'm sure we'll see more of certain things in the future. Flashbacks and whatnot. I'm particularly interested in seeing Aang as a spirit guide.

| Well, first two episodes are online (legally), so I watched them.
I'm in love with everything about it. I just can't type pure joy, but it looks something like dlfkja;lkds;ldskhglfdsalkdsj;lghffewpoidmvcoiwndpofvcmdsfvoiuo.
Lin Bei Fong was awesome, btw. The conversation between her and Tenzin was great, and I hope we see more of her.
I do think it's really weird how the setting seems to have changed kind of drastically, because in ATLA it seemed to be a more classic Asian setting with the Fire Nation in a bit of a industrial revolution setting. But Republic City, a mere 60-70 years after looks like a Early 20th century city, they even have radio. And cars. That's quite the leap in technology.

| I saw the first two episodes as well and thought that they were great! I had a stupid grin on my face the entire time I was watching.
I do agree that it seems quite a leap in technology. The show definitely has a different feel to it, because of that. I'm almost reminded of America's Roaring Twenties. The cars do seem a little out of place, but they did have tanks in the Fire Nation in Aang's time, so when I think of it from that perspective, I can understand the cars a little better.
Also, I can't believe what they did to us in the beginning of the first episode, dangling the carrot of Zuko's mother right before us before snatching it away! I love Ikki, but I just wanted to strangle her at that moment! I literally shouted out, "Noooooo!" It was so mean of them to do that...
Lin Bei Fong was pretty cool, but I want to know who her father is! Was it Sokka? Because it seemed as if he and Suki were going to end up with each other. Which then makes me really want to know who Toph ended up with. I hope we find out, and I also hope we get some flashbacks with Toph in them.
I want to see her more than anybody else, and a part of me has denied that somebody as awesome as Toph is dead. She was one of the youngest, after all, and we all saw how fit Bumi was at over a hundred years of age. Of course, if Toph was still alive, I think that her awesomeness would detract too much from Korra, so they had to find a way not to include her in the show. XD Or that's how I see it.
I love Bolin, and I think that he had some of the best lines. They still make me giggle, just thinking about them. Mako... I don't like him quite as much. By the end of the second episode, it's very obvious he's going to be shipped with Korra, but maybe I'll warm up to him as his tough guy act is torn down.
Speaking of characters I love, Tenzin's family is quite awesome! I love all three of the kids (especially Ikki), as well as his wife, and Tenzin himself. I do want to see Tenzin's siblings, Bumi and Kya, as well as some flashbacks with Aang.
In fact, I would love to see all of the old main cast once again. And did Sokka and Suki have any kids of their own? Also, who's ruling the Fire Nation? Obviously Zuko's descendants, but who exactly are they?
I hope those questions get answered in the course of this show, or in some other form. This show does have a much faster pace, so I think we're not going to get a lot of answers to questions we have about the old cast. The show is supposed to be focusing on Korra, after all, and not Aang and the others.
Still, I can't wait to see the rest of it!
