Succession: Rebellion

Maul

Once Bakar finished his meal, it didn't take long for him to fall asleep. Once he was deep enough into it, Maul slowly stood up, making sure to make as little noise as possible. He made his way over to Savina and Sunny and nodded at them.

"Sunny, Savina. If you both are not too busy, I would like to ask you two a question pertaining to our second survivor, Bakar."

C.C.

"So, how'd it go?" C.C. asked excitedly once Katie walked back over to her.

Rein

"Y-Yeah. Um...maybe we could ask...Syrien and Brighe for advice?" Rein asked nervously, unconsciously twirling a lock of her hair. She certainly didn't like the idea, but it might be their best chance. Still...it wasn't a talk she was looking forward to.

"Sure we weren't doing anything," Sunny said, including Savina with her because they had just been talking, so Sunny assumed Savina was doing nothing else. "What is it that you want to ask?"

Savina

"....True. I think Maul is taking care of Bakar right now though, and Silence....is silent." Savina pointed out as she looked at Sunny. "Maybe we could...I don't know, give her something to write with I suppose. I mean, she should at least know that much, at her age." Savina pointed out as she tried to think.

But then Maul came over, and Sunny began talking for the both of them. So Savina just nodded along in reply.

Carlisle

"Well I suppose I could carry you if it was necessary..." Carlisle mused, not realizing that Mab had been joking.

Katie

"He said yes." Katie replied as she grinned at C.C. .

Kegan

"Yeah....maybe we should wait until after the current baby is born though. Maybe."

"Really" Mab had to hold back her laughs. Carlisle thought she was serious and she wondered how long she could keep it that way. "Do you think you could lift me? I mean I wouldn't want to drag you done."

She knew if Chris was here, she'd wouldn't approve of Mab fooling around when they recently learned someone/thing was here with them. She was happy that she wasn't.

Rein

"Yeah. Well...guess what date is two days from now?" Rein asked brightly, glad to change the subject into something else she enjoyed far more. To think, only two days from now, would mark the anniversary that Kegan had first come into her life. It only seemed like yesterday they had met...then again, it hadn't been that long since they'd reunited, too.

C.C.

"Ah, great to hear! Hm, now we're going to have to get you a stylish dress for your date. I'd be happy to get you one." C.C. offered with a grand smile.

Maul

"Tell me, what do you think we should do with Bakar? He is only a child, after all, and we have no idea if he has any other living relatives out there." Maul inquired.

Carlisle

Carlisle stopped and looked down at his rather beefy arms before looking back at Mab, who looked rather light. "...I think I could carry you easily. For a few kilometers, at least." He reassured before shifting his weight as he began to feel a bit awkward.

Katie

"......No thank you." Katie quickly replied. She was very thankful that C.C. was helping her with this, but Katie could tell by the smile on C.C.'s face that the dress would probably be an eye-catcher, to say the least.

Kegan

Kegan's smile grew wider as he realized what Rein was talking about. "You know...we'll be in Felin in two days. Maybe we could go out and...celebrate?"

Savina

Savina traded a glance with Sunny before looking back up at Maul. "Well... we could watch him until we get to Pewter in three weeks, obviously. Maybe by then we'll know enough about him to see if he has any family left in the Empire. And if he doesn't...." Savina let the sentence drift off as she looked past Maul towards Bakar.


"I mean....he doesn't seem like much trouble." Savina said. She knew that it was illogical, and that it would hinder the mission. But Savina knew that within three weeks, Bakar would feel some sort of bond with the Soldiers. It would be cruel to take that away from him.

At least, that's what Savina was telling herself.

Mab had to bite her tongue to continue to stifle her laughter. It was getting harder, especially considering Carlisle's obliviousness.

"Bet I could carry you."

"We should keep him," Sunny said bluntly. "We can always use an extra hand and he seems to be capable of some work. Of course if he still has family he should return to them, but I see no problem in him staying as long as he's not in the way."

Carlisle

Carlisle looked Mab over, his lips a bit tight as he studied Mab's body for a few seconds. He was pretty sure that, while she might be able to life him up, Mab wouldn't be able to carry Carlisle anywhere. But he wasn't going to tell her that, there wouldn't be much of a point with disagreeing with her after all. "Hmm, well I'll make sure to remember that." Carlisle replied while nodding his head.

Savina

Savina felt relieved when Sunny bluntly addressed Maul. "He could stay with us. I mean, Sunny and I have room in our tent." Savina informed Maul.

Maul

"I agree. If the boy has no other family that can take care of him, than I shall take Bakar as my ward. Besides, in a way I am responsible for this. I had plenty of chances to kill Caesar two years ago in the competitions. He is an orphan now because of the mistakes I made. By doing this, I can at least make up for it partially." Maul stated.

C.C.

"Oh, come now! I insist! You need to look best for your date, after all. I'd be more than happy to help you." C.C. insisted.

Rein

"I'd love to. I even have a bit of a...surprise for you, too." Rein blushed and looked away but tried to compose herself swiftly. She burst into a fit of giggles a moment later.

"S-Sorry." Rein stuttered as she tried to catch her breath. "I just remembered that pick-up line you used on me when we first met. It was just so..."

Rein couldn't finish her sentence and giggled again.

Ma couldn't handle it any longer and she starrted to laugh, trying her best not to lose control or stop walking.

"Carlisle...oh Carlisle. I'm sure it's not going to be boring at all with you around."

Sunny was glad that Maul agreed. She didn't want him to be mad at her for her bluntness. It also made her happy because she was already worried about Bakar. He was young and to just leave him made Sunny feel uncomfortable, even with family.

She glanced at Silence, knowing she would fair better alone, but she didn't want to abandon her either.

Katie

Katie climbed back onto her horse before replying. "Of course you would. Tell me, what will it be? Will the dress be revealing? Or will it just disappear halfway through the date?"

Carlisle

Carlisle's closed his tightly as he realized that Mab had been messing around with him. He was embarrassed, for sure. "I see...." Carlisle muttered before turning around. "Well then...I suppose we should be going." He said suddenly, still embarrassed by the fact he hadn't seen what was now an obvious joke in hindsight.

Savina

Savina was taken by surprise at Maul's reveal. Making the boy his ward so suddenly was certainly a suprisingly compassionate thing for Maul to do. "Well then... I suppose that settles it?"

Kegan

Kegan's mouth dropped open, amused and surprised at the same time. "You remember that!?"

"I'm sorry," Mab said, grabbing onto Carlisle's arm to stop him. "You just made it too easy to pull your leg that I couldn't resist. But I promise to behave from now on." She let go and started walking.

"What are we going to do about Silence?"

Rein

"Of course I do! I mean, it was so bad, that it's hard not to forget it. Hey, mind saying it again, just for old time's sake? I'd love to hear it coming from you again." Rein giggled, giving Kegan a pleading look that she hoped he wouldn't be able to resist.

Maul

"Yes, though that leaves the question of what to do with our other guest. She is older and able to take care of herself I think, but we should still help her out." Maul said, glancing to Silence as he spoke.

C.C.

"Of course not! I'd never do something so humiliating to you, Katie. Now, at least. I just want to make you a dress that is good for your figure, and would have Nell drooling over it." C.C. replied. "Something like this."

A very revealing dress (actually it could hardly qualify as clothing, considering how much it would reveal) materialized in her hands.

"This ought to do!" she joked.

Carlisle

Carlisle nodded in understanding before continuing to walk through the Forest. "I suppose it is fine. No harm was done, and if it makes you happy then....I...well its fine." Carlisle said quietly to Mab.

Kegan

Kegan shook his head as he denied Rein's request. "What if Atiya wakes up and hears it, with our luck that would happen. And Sten...." Kegan added as he glanced at the Qunari for a second. "Too risky."

Katie

Katie's mouth dropped and her eyes grew wide as she stared at the dress in C.C.'s hands. "C.C. .....that's more of a fourth date dress."

C.C.

"Hm, fourth date dress, eh? My my, you're certainly eager, aren't you? Will, I'll make sure to keep this in hand for the future. How about this?"

This time C.C. conjured up a more modest looking dress, but one that would still looking quiet stunning on Katie.

Rein

"Oh come on...please, just for me?" Rein pleaded, giving Kegan the most pleading look she could muster. For added affect, she smiled sweetly at him.

As Carlisle and Mab walked, Carlisle suddenly stepped on a twig and snapped it. A dozen arrows came out of nowhere then, and flinging themselves to impale the two.

"That's good to hear considering I probably won't stop," Mab said, smirking at him. But she stopped when the arrows flew out at them. Her first impulse was to drop to the ground and she found herself doing so.

Silence looked at the soldiers as they talked. She knew they were discussing her and the young boy. She wondered what they would do with her. And how long before they realize she was not who she said she was.

Sunny thought about it. "Maybe we can take her to the next town and see if she wants to stay there? She'll fair better than Bakar would."

Carlisle

Carlisle's eyes grew wide as he heard a trigger go off after he had stepped on the twig. The Doctor quickly spun around, reaching for Mab, but she was already ducking. Nevertheless, Carlisle continued spinning around to face the arrows headed for him. "congelo!" He shouted, causing the air to quickly grow even colder as air suddenly began to freeze, stopping the arrows and causing them to fall just a few feet from Carlisle.

It would seem that whatever had teleported into the Forest had been waiting for them...and it was obviously handy enough to create an intricate trap in a short amount of time. "Mab...I am sorry for treating you so roughly, are you all right?" Carlisle quickly asked as he studied the area carefully.

Katie

Katie bit her lip as she looked at the dress in C.C.'s hands. It was gorgeous, that much was certain. "I....thank you C.C., it's wonderful." Katie replied

Kegan

"Fine..." Kegan replied. "But Sten doesn't get to hear it." Kegan stated as he sat up. The Half-Elf leaned towards Rein, wrapping his arm around her back before whispering the words she so desperately wanted to hear. A few seconds later, Kegan leaned back.

"Happy now?"

Savina

"We do have some money we could leave with her."

Mab stood slowly, brushing off her clothes. She was still tired from her reading earlier and this was the second time she had fallen to the ground. But she refused to seem weak.

"It's ok Carlisle. I'll be fine. As long as no one attacks me that is. I'm not sure I could fight."

It was true. Mab had never learned how to fight or at least properly.

C.C.

"You're welcome, Katie. I'm more than happy to help. If you need anything else, just tell me."

Rein

Rein burst into another fit of giggles. It took her a good while to regain her self control. She smiled warmly at her fiance and kissed Kegan on the cheek.

"Yes, I'm happy now." Rein replied with another giggle. Atiya gave a low yawn and looked up at her parents with bleary eyes.

"Are we there yet?"

Maul

"That sounds acceptable."

?

Three daggers were thrown from the top of a nearby tree, each one sailing toward Carlisle and Mab to stab them in the chests.

Carlisle

Carlisle pushed Mab down before doing what he knew was going to be a very difficult trick. The Doctor reached out towards the knife that would have hit him first, and then grabbed it before using the blade to stop the other one aimed at his chest. It happened in a matter of seconds, going by like a blur. Luckily Carlisle wasn't hit, but his wrist and fingers on his right hand were screaming at him in pain.

But instead of waiting for another attack, Carlisle threw the blade towards a tree before jumping a few steps back and placing his hand on a birch tree that was sitting behind him. "intereo sic actum!" Carlisle shouted, causing the tree beside him to disentegrate into ash suddenly. There was now a whip of water around Carlisle. He was ready to fight.

Katie

"Yes...I'm sure you are. But this is enough C.C. ...thank you, again."

Kegan

Kegan chuckled a bit as well, though he was glad when Atiya woke up. "Not yet honey. We wont be there until tomorrow."

"Hmm.... You two are too distracted. What happens if we're attacked?" Sten asked Kegan and Rein with a frown, "Will you be able to notice?"

C.C.

"You're welcome."

C.C. reached up and managed to wrap her hands around Katie's shoulders, giving her the best hug she could manage.

Rein, Atiya

"Ok..." Atiya mumbled, rubbing her eyes with her small hands. She crawled over to her father and motioned for him to pick her up.

"Ah, I'm jealous. It looks like she's already picked a favorite." Rein teased, though she could hardly blame Atiya. The girl had only recently met her father, and obviously wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. The Humage frowned at what Sten said, but made sure to ignore him.

A figure dropped from a tree, and burst toward Carlisle with amazing speed. The creature sent a jet of fire toward the doctor and threw a dagger at Mab, to distract him.

Carlisle

Carlisle reacted on instinct, separating the whip of water into six pieces, the Doctor gripped onto the knife that had already been thrown at him and threw it towards where he knew the blade aimed at Mab would be. It successfully stopped the knife from hitting Mab, but they both fell right in front of her.

Carlisle didn't stop to look at Mab though, instead using the globs of water and manipulating each of them so that his Assailant was surrounded by them. Carlisle was pleased to see that his Opponent was headed towards him though. Carlisle was much better at hand to hand combat.

Katie patted C.C. on the back before letting the Mage go. "Well then...lets hope we can get to Naron soon then."

Kegan

"Yes well, I hope that you'll be able to defend yourself then, Sten." Kegan replied as he picked up Atiya.

"I will. And I will protect the rest of this group as well, as is my duty. I simply pray that you aren't taken by surprise by your enemies," Sten stated, almost sounding like he cared for the elf.

Atiya

"Daddy, can I ask you a question?" Atiya asked sweetly as she held on to her father.

C.C.

"Don't worry, we'll arrive there soon. I promise. Just...make sure you two don't do too much on the first date." C.C. teased.

Carlisle's attacker sent a jet of fire at a section of the water that surrounded him, vaporizing it. The creature used the large hole that was left and jumped out. It flung two more daggers at him, one aiming high and the other low.
