Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

Sokka blinked, surprised. One minute, they were joking with each other and the next, she wanted to goto sleep. He mentally went over what they were talking about and blushed a little. Did he just flirt with her? He did, but it felt natural, like it was the right thing to say.

He nodded and closed his eyes, "Okay. Good night."

"Yeah. You too," she said.

Just because she had ended it did not mean she did not regret the end of the conversation. She had been enjoying it.

She lay her cheek on her arm and closed her eyes. She supposed she should have waited for the medics to arrive, but surely they wouldn't blame her too much for resting. She was tired, and Sokka especially needed rest.

Haru wasn't sure what had happened and he looked from Suki to Jet not sure what to say either.

"Do you think Zuko took care of it?"

Suki looked at Haru and nodded, "I think he did. I'm going to goto bed. I don't feel much like celebrating anymore tonight."

When Sokka woke up the next day, he found the sun shining in his face and he groaned, hugging his pillow close and licking his mouth. He almost shuddered. His mouth tasted like that special water the Mechanist invented for healing. He opened his eyes to find he was hugging something other than a pillow, someone in fact.

With a sudden rush of clarity, he remembered the events of the night before. The healers must have came in and washed his mouth out while he was asleep. They probably checked on Toph too. The healers were probably waterbenders. Waterbending always made one feel sleepy.

Now, though, he had to deal with the matter at hand, finding a way to untangle himself from his friend without getting caught. The Universe hated him.

Mai sighed as she woke up. Her wedding night was eventful, to say the least. The rest of the celebrations were held in the ballroom and the palace was under double guard. Thankfully, no one was killed, just hurt.

"Always good to know my life is exciting," she muttered to herself.

"Look, if you actually just went ahead and let go, you wouldn't have to worry so much about it and waste time."

Toph was fully awake. And, truth be told, she was rather enjoying herself. It might have been at Sokka's expense, of course, but most of her jokes were.

Right now, she liked the feel of his arms around her. She felt warm and safe, and they were close enough that she could feel his heartbeat thudding through her.

Sokka felt his face heat up. She was teasing him, he knew, with no small amount of relief. At least she wasn't angry with him. He felt himself yawn and close his eyes.

"Hmm... I don't know," Sokka told her, deciding that two could play at that game, "I'm still tired from last night and my hangover isn't as bad with the distraction."

He grinned. To tell the truth, he was pretty comfortable in this position. He felt warm, but not hott, and about as lazy as he was on his day off from training.

"Oh, is that so? I'm distracting you, huh?" said Toph, chuckling. He sounded half-asleep already. "Well, you know if anyone sees us like this, there's gonna be talk all over the palace."

(I feel like I'm missing something. Is everyone in bed?)

(I skipped into the morning. Since Sokka and Toph fell asleep waiting for the doctors, I just rolled with it right there and then I had Mai wake up. Sorry if I was unclear. I'll ask if you guys wanted a timeskip for now on. Perhaps now Zuko can interrogate your boyfriend.)

"Oh, Spirits. The scandal," Sokka stated in exaggerated concern, "The Avatar's earthbending teacher and Bei Fong heir in bed with the Avatar's sword guy. Ty Lee must have brought the healers in and thought this looked cute."

"Yeah. She's annoying that way." Toph yawned. "You don't seem all that worried about it, though. You're still holding on to me."

"Well, I don't exactly live in the Fire Nation, do I?" Sokka asked her with a shrug, "Besides, what are the odds of word spreading from all the way to the Fire Nation to the rest of the world? People don't care that much for gossip. Besides, this is comfy right here."

Toph sighed. Reality was beginning to hammer her in the head again. "Sokka... This isn't exactly something just friends do, you know."

(Ok. I was confused since you and Big T post a lot when I'm sleeping. And he's my husband XD)

Zuko woke up, but he didn't really want to. He saw that Mai was already awake (they are sleeping in same room now right?) and attempted a smile at her.

"Good morning Mai."

Shizuka sat by the pond. She had trouble sleeping last night after what happened. But she was feeling better. At least the wedding was over.

She tore off a piece of bread and tossed it to one of the turtleducks.

(Oh, yeah. Sorry. Your husband. And yeah, they sleep in the same room.)

"Good morning, Zuko," she told him, pulling him closer to her, "Come closer. I'm cold."

"Oh. Right," he told her, blushing a bit at the reminder, sleep falling away from his eyes in an instant, "I know. Sorry."

He let go of her and sat up.

Toph sat up, too, and stretched. The pain in her back was gone, and she felt much better after a good night's rest. Her stomach rumbled, however, and she soon realized that she was hungry. Very hungry.

"I'm gonna go find something to eat," she said.

(XP You're just jealous I married him first.)

Zuko moved closer, wrapping his arms around Mai. He was glad that she was safe. And that things could have gone worse.

Jet yawned as he sat up. Haru was already dressed and was sitting by the window. Jet was tempted to scare him out of it, but decided that wouldn't be the best of plans.

Instead he got dress and walked over to the Earthbender.

"Something outside catch your interest?"

Haru jumped a little and Jet smiled.

"Jumpy?"

Haru gave Jet a nasty look. "No. I just didn't except you to wake up any time soon."

(I'm a guy.)

Sokka nodded and stood up before heading out of the room, "I'll go use the bathroom and join you, then."

Mai grinned at her husband, enjoying the warmth of his body. She lay her head on his chest and murmured, "Very good, my lord husband."

The Blue Spirit woke up in his cell, his back aching. He groaned. So the night before wasn't a terrible dream. He really did get beat by a blind girl. How humiliating. He stretched and sighed, "I wonder how I'm going to get out of this one."

(I know that.)

"Anything for you, my lady wife," he told her. But the good feeling of the hug was being cancelled out by the fact that he had to talk to the Blue Spirit soon. But for now he was going to enjoy spending time with his new wife.

"Anything, huh?" she asked him with a smirk and stretching back leisurely, "I like the sound of that."

Mai sighed, "I don't suppose we'll be having a honeymoon anytime soon."

"No," Zuko said sadly. "I'm sorry Mai. But I can't just leave after what happened last night. I would, but...."

Zuko sighed as well.

"You have your duty," Mai finished with a sigh, "I understand. Your integrity is one of the things I love about you, despite it being inconvenient at times."

Zuko kissed Mai on the forehead than the mouth.

"Thank you for being so understanding."

He slid off the bed and got dressed. If he was going to talk to the masked man he thought he'd might as well do it now.

Toph thought that she probably needed a bath, too. She was still in the bloodstained dress she had worn the night before. She decided to put it off until she had something to eat. Her stomach was growling rather loudly.

"I have to be if I'm going to be your wife," she told him dryly as she stepped down from their bed and began to dress herself.

Sokka smiled as he stepped out of the bath and stretched. He didn't know how stiff he was until he felt the warm water soothe his aches away. Maybe the Fire Nation did something besides barbecue right after all.

After dressing, he stepped out of the room and began to search for Toph, his stomach growling. He decided to search the dining hall or maybe the kitchen. She'd probably be around there.

Toph made herself at home in the dining hall. The kitchen was much too crowded, hot, and loud for her tastes. She sat at one of the many tables in the hall, gulping down the food she had managed to get in the kitchens. She kept her feet on the ground; she expected Sokka would show up any moment.
