Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

"Hey Toph," the Water Tribe man greeted his friend-or-maybe-more-than-a-friend with a grin, a plate of seal jerky and steaming ostrich-horse eggs on his plate. He sat across from her and asked, "How's your back feeling?"

"Better than it was last night," she said. "Still a little sore, though." She scarfed up a few slices of pig-chicken bacon. "It's stupid, though. I'm sure I've got a scar, but what's the point if it's somewhere where you can't show it off?"

Sokka grinned and was about to voice what just crossed his mind, but he blushed and bit his tongue as he thought about what he was about to say for once in his life. He inwardly groaned. His heart was beating like crazy. He hadn't been this self-conscious around a girl in three years. He shrugged trying to calm himself, "Well, you can always show it off if you ever visit one of the beaches they have here."

Toph snorted and ate another piece of bacon. "Yeah, that'll be the day. Your sister has been trying to get me to wear one of those, uh, bikinis for a while now. It's annoying. I'll wear what I want to wear."

Which was usually a tank-top and a pair of boy's trunks.

She heard his heartbeat. A small smile danced over her lips.

"What's wrong with you?" she asked. "Your heart's racing, Snoozles."

"Oh, nothing," Sokka lied quickly, trying to calm his heart but failing. Damn it, her mentioning of the bikinis wasn't help. Just the thought of her in one... He shook his head. Oh, how the Universe hated him.

"I just, um, thought of something," he finished lamely.

"Hmph. I wonder what that could be," she drawled, smirking at him. "And I can tell you're lying, by the way. You can't fool me, you idiot."

"That doesn't stop me from trying," Sokka told her dryly. He rolled his eyes. Great. He was falling for a girl that liked to torture him. That would prove interesting. He smiled wryly a little, "I don't think you'd want to know."

"Sokka... Nothing would surprise me," she said, with a shrug. She ate a few eggs and gulped down some milk. "Honestly."

"Well, I was thinking how good you would look in a bikini," Sokka told her, blushing in embarrassment. Quickly, he shoved some eggs into his mouth to hide his shyness.

Toph offered one of her rare blinks. She blushed. "Well, I guess I'm surprised," she said. "But it sounds like a typical guy thing. Figures."

She finished off the rest of her breakfast, now just as shy as Sokka thought she tried hiding it through her gruff manner. She was not entirely used to being told she looked nice on a regular basis. Sure, sometimes she noticed a few guys whose heartbeats spiked when she came around, but saying those thoughts aloud? Not as common.

Sokka tried not to look at her as he ate his breakfast. He wasn't sure if she was pleased with what he said or not. Normally he could tell, but he was a little scared to read her expression.

"Sorry," he told her with a blush, "I mean, you are pretty, but, well, I don't want to make you feel awkward."

"Awkward. Huh. Don't know the meaning of the word," she said. She thought for a moment, and then said, "Tell me something, though. If you had a choice, which would you choose. Me, any other day of the week, or me in a bikini."

Sokka paused for a moment in thought before speaking, "You on any other day since you said you wouldn't wear one and, well, I'd choose the real you."

Toph smiled. It was a true smile, too, and not one of her smirks of mischievous grins. "Good answer." She licked her fingers and added, "Maybe going to the beach isn't such a bad idea. I might even try a bikini once. You never know."

Sokka smiled back, actually proud of himself for making the right choice. It was pretty obvious. He didn't like her just for her looks after all. She was his best friend too. He finished his breakfast happily, "That would be fun."

"It would be. I actually know how to dog-paddle now," she said, chuckling. "No more almost drowning for yours truly."

"Really?" Sokka asked, actually finding himself impressed. Last he checked, she was scared of swimming. He laughed a little, "Guess I won't be playing the dashing lifeguard anytime soon then."

"You had your chance once," she said, shrugging. "And, really, I don't want to risk that ever again." She stepped back from the table. "What're you planning on doing today? I'm sure the doctors want us to rest, or something like that."

"Since when do I listen to doctors?" Sokka asked her with a shrug, "I think I'm going to go into town and look around. Last time I was here, there really wasn't time to play tourist. or anything."

"Hm. I think I'll tag along," said Toph. "I've got nothing else to do. First, though, I've gotta go bathe and get one some new clothes. This dress isn't very comfortable."

((Okay, I'll post my Katara and I assume Katara and aang would be sleeping in the same room.))
Katara stretched her arms and got up from bed. Katara thought about the previous night's events as she walked into the bathroom. The man in the mask was obviously a rebel, but she couldn't think about who would organize a rebellion or why there would be a rebel showing up at the reception.

Thinking about it brought Katara to thinking of her brother...and Toph. She decided to probably visit them. Besides, it's been awhile since they have all hung out with eachother.

"It's a miracle you lasted this long in it," Sokka teased her wit ha grin. He remembered when he had to wear a dress on Kyoshi Island. Training had never been so humiliating. He grinned, "I'll go see if Katara and Aang will want to come with us as well. It's been awhile since we hung out."

Zuko knew that there was little he could say now to cheer up Mai. So instead he gave her a quick kiss. Then he headed out of the room. He made his way to where the Blue Spirit was being held. He nodded at the guards who stood outside it.

They opened the door and Zuko stepped in. Then they shut it behind him.

"Good morning....well I don't know your name."

Mai smiled a little before shaking her head and finishing getting dressed. She rebraided her hair and headed out. She had her own duties as Fire Lady.

"You can just call me Blue Spirit," the masked man told him as he sat up in his pile of straw, "I like keeping my own name a secret. You understand, right?"

"Of course I do..er..Blue Spirit." Zuko shook his head at the name and moved on. "Now let's start with a simple question. You were hired by someone to attack us, is that right?"

"Last night was something wasn't it," Jet said, not really talking to Haru, but just outloud. Still the other boy nodded. "I didn't even get to finish dancing with Suki."

"You...you don't like her do you," Haru asked. Jet raised an eyebrow at him. "No of course not. After all she wouldn't like you."

"Why so suddenly interested in my love life, Haru?"

"No reason."

Jet just nodded. Then he headed out of the room, wanting to take a walk. He couldn't sit still for a long time.

Shizuka finished feeding the turtleducks. Feeding them made her feel calmer. But they also brought back memories. Like playing with Zuko and the others here. Shizuka sighed heavily.
