Succession: Heir to the Empire

Susanna

"Ok, Caesar." Susanna replied before kissing the Humage on the cheek and walking out of the campsite.

Kegan

"Well alright then." Kegan said before he slowly put Rein down against a tree, putting her between two large roots so she would be comfortable. "Ok...well lets get this going then." He said with just the slightest sense of reluctance before quickly taking off his shirt and handing it to Rein, handing her his pants just a few seconds later.

Brighe

"This is awful..." Brighe muttered as she kept her eyes away from Kegan and Brighe.

Carlisle

Carlisle's mouth dropped open, the few sticks that he had picked up falling down again as he let go of them in shock.

Rein

Rein's eyes grew wide and her face became fully red upon letting her eyes travel downward. She quickly lloked away.

"This is kinda...awkward."

Tsuba

Tsuba continued to laugh a little as she made her way back to camp. Well, that was interesting. It'd sure be funnier, and a little ironic, if she ended up giving Carlisle a heart attack from her display.

Kegan

"Well then I guess we are finally even then." Kegan said as he tried not be too phased by Rein's comment.

Carlisle

Carlisle tried to ignore Tsuba's laughter as he quickly collected all the sticks he had dropped. A few minutes later, Carlisle walked back into the area where Maul was cooking. "Is this enough?" He asked before dropping a large pile of wood beside the animal corpse.

Rein

"I, uh, guess." Rein said. She handed Kegan back his clothes, but glanced at him one last time.

"I never thought it'd be so...um..."

Tsuba, Maul

Maul nodded. "It is sufficient."

The Kaleesh went about to start a fire and began to properly cook the animal. Tsuba walked over to Carlisle.

"Sorry if I scared you back there. I just couldn't help myself."

((You know, I just know I'm going to go to hell from writing all this.))

Kegan

"It's what?" Kegan asked as he grabbed his pants back from Rein, slightly annoyed.

Carlisle

"It's fine. I mean it was a bit...shocking, to say the least."

(Well at least it's warm.)

Rein

"Um...big." Rein said, averting her gaze from Kegan.

Tsuba

"You know Carlisle, you should really learn to lighten up, and grow a pair." Tsuba teased, smiling.

((....that comment just made my day.))

Kegan

"Yeah, whatever." Kegan said with a scowl on his face as he quickly put his pants back on. "We should get going now. don't want to wait around too long."

Carlisle

"Umm...excuse me?" Carlisle asked as he turned to look at Tsuba, slightly confused as to what she meant. Though he was pretty sure that he had just been insulted.

Rein

"I thought you'd be flattered at my compliment." Rein huffed, crossing her arms. "Yeah, right. Let's get moving then."

Tsuba

"Nothing, never mind." Tsuba said, shaking her head.

Carlisle

"....Well ok then." Carlisle replied before reluctantly glancing towards Maul to see how the Kaleesh was coming along with cooking. "Umm, Maul, do you need any more help?"

Kegan

"Great." Kegan said with a muffled voice as he pulled his shirt back on. "Then lets hurry." He added before he carefully picked Rein up again.

Maul

"No, but thank you for the offer." Maul curtly said. Soon he was done preparing the meat and evenly distributed it amongst themselves to eat.

"Oh. Ma'am!" he saluted, him and his men straightening themselves up when they heard the name she dropped. No one disrespected Grethor or his men without paying an extremely heavy price.

"So, what shall we do with him?" he asked with a smirk, holding a knife to Nebi's throat.

Nebi rolled his eyes, "Sorry, I'm not into men. Good luck to you, though."

"Shut up boy!" he growled, pressing the knife closer to Nebi, drawing blood.

(Okay. What have I missed?)

((Not much. Tsuba has made a move on Carlisle, and Rein and Kegan are somewhat getting along. And Rein hurt her ankle. Oh, and Susanna has now used the gift C.C. gave to her to make sure she could no longer feel any pain.))

C.C.

"I have a fitting punishment for the boy. Do I have your cooperation?" C.C. asked.

"Make sure to act afraid of my, Nebi." C.C. said to him mentally.

(Yeah. She no longer feels any physical pain, guilt, awkwardness, regret, or anything like that. So she's sort of crazy now.)

Kegan

"Well, I think this is enough progress for today. We are practically on the mountainside itself now." Kegan said as he looked up at the mountain. He had carried Rein for almost eight hours now, but it had been worth it, for sure. "So what do you think? Do you think that you'll be able to stand for a while while I get the camp set up?"

Carlisle

"Oh, k. But if you do think of anything...I'm here." Carlisle said. Though Maul never did ask Carlisle for any more help, unfortunately for the boy. The food was good, if a bit rough and chewy, and once they were finished Tsuba decided that they should hurry up and get going almost immediately, so that way none of the other Heirs would pass them.

"Well we're only about fourteen kilometers from the Grand Observatory now, though with how steep the cliff side up the mountain is, it's going to take us at least Eight hours to get there." Carlisle estimated as he looked up the mountain-side. "So...should we continue throughout the night, or what?" Carlisle asked as he looked back towards Maul and Tsuba. The trio were currently standing next to a waterfall, where the river they had traveled up from originated from.

Susanna

"So, you tired yet, Caesar?" Susanna asked in a teasing tone as she continued to follow Caesar.

Rein

Rein nodded. "Of course. I think my ankle's feeling a little better."

Caesar

"Of course not my dear! I have an endless supply of energy."

Tsuba, Maul

"No. We should rest for now, conserve our energy." Tsuba said, shaking her head.

((Say, think we could have Susanna and Caesar attacked by bandits? Should be interesting.))

Carlisle

"Well ok then, I guess we should set up camp for the night then." Carlisle decided before glancing towards the river. "I umm, have a suggestion, if you two are willing to listen..." The Doctor said as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "You might not be able to see it, but if you listen, you can tell that there's a cave behind the waterfall. ...If we staid in there, we wouldn't have to worry about orcs, bandits, or the other Heirs..." Carlisle pointed out.

Kegan

"Great! I'll be back in just a few minutes then." Kegan said with a pleased before setting Rein down. "Call me if you need anything." He added before quickly walking away into the Forest.

Susanna

"Wonderful! Then you very well just might win this thing, since we wont have to worry about being held up throughout the night. Should be entertaining to see Baruti's face."

Rhys

"Baruti!" Rhys shouted as he ran through the doors into the main room of the Grand Observatory. The Guard was completely exhausted by this point, but he had at least achieved his goal of making it to Baruti before any of the other Heirs were even close to arriving, it would seem.

Caesar

"Indeed! I..." Caesar stopped himself and cautiously looked around.

"We're being watched."

Rein

"Got it!" Rein yelled. She laid on the ground and calmly waited for Kegan to return. Well, this hadn't beent he best day of her life, but still, it could have been worse. She could have hurt or broken more than just her ankle, or there could have been spikes at the bottom. All in all, things had been pretty lucky for her, actually.

Tsuba, Maul

"That sounds good." Tsuba agreed, nodding.

Susanna

"Hmm, really? Well I suppose that isn't good..." Susanna answered, not really worried or caring about what Caesar was talking about.

Carlisle

Carlisle nodded after hearing Tsuba agree with his plan. "Well then, someone should get a rope so we can climb in. I'll open up an entrance." He planned aloud before walking towards the river. Carlisle slowly hunched over and put his hand into the water, shivering a bit as he realized how cold it was this far upstream. Exhaling slowly, Carlisle went over the words he need to say in his mind before sticking his other hand in the water. "Unda , Ego ordo thee ut subsisto quod scindo." He chanted, causing the water to part all the way from where his hands touched to the very end of the waterfall itself.

After a few seconds, Carlisle opened his eyes and stood up, wiping his hands onto his pants as he tried to dry them off. "Well, I think that should take care of it. And look, we even have some fish for dinner. ....If you guys want fish, I mean." Carlisle added quickly, not wanting to seem presumptuous.

Kegan

Kegan came back about twenty minutes later, sweaty and tired looking as he walked over to Rein. "Well, I've finished all the work now. Hope you like this one, but it is a bit...cozier, then the last camp."

Baruti paused from his musing as she stared in the water, looking up to see Rhys entering the Observatory. He looked annoyed.

"What is it, Rhys?" he asked.

Gee, you could have warned me. Though, I am looking forward to seeing what this 'punishment' is, Nebi teased her, smirking inwardly.

"Y-you're not going to kill me out in the woods, are you?" Nebi asked, attempting to sound afraid. The bandits laughed, shouting a myriad of suggestions from cutting his fingers off to feeding his testicles to a bear.

Nebi barely stopped himself from rolling his eyes. Nice bunch.

C.C.

"Oh don't worry. You don't need to know the exact details. His screaming should be just enough. And, since you brought up that lovely little suggestion, I think I will kill you in the forest, boy. I hope you've had a good life." C.C. said with a downright vicious smile.

"Continue to play along. Once we get into the forest, make sure to scream for a few minutes before going quiet. I'll tell the bandits I'll continue my scouting mission, and we can leave."

Rein

"I'm sure I will." Rein said cheerily.

Tsuba, Maul

"It'll be fine." Tsuba assured. She and Maul walked through the new entrance and quickly got inside the cave.

Caesar

A second later a mixture of human and dwarve bandits rushed out of the forest and quickly encircled Susanna and Caesar.

"Now would be a good time to use your gift, my dear."

Rhys

"I thought that it would be prudent if I reported in to you, Sir. considering how long I've been away from my post." Rhys informed Baruti as he walked towards the pool.

Carlisle

"Oh, ok then. I'll grab the fish." Carlisle replied before quickly turning around and grabbing the fish, collecting seven before he quickly ran after Maul and Tsuba into the cave. "Restituo." The Doctor whispered as he walked into the cave, causing the waterfall to fill itself in right behind him.

Kegan

"Great, well then, let me help you." Kegan said as he wrapped his arm around Rein's waste so he could help her walk. After a few minutes of walking towards the mountain, Kegan stopped in front of a very large fruit tree. "Here we are." Kegan stated before walking Rein through a low entrance. The interior of the tree was small, with only a bed and small fire inside, but Kegan was sure that it would do. For tonight, at least.

Susanna

"You mean you don't feel like killing them the old fashioned way, Caesar?" Susanna asked with a smirk on her face as she turned to look at the Humage. "Very well, But I'm going to need eye contact with them first, or otherwise it's pointless." She explained before turning to look back at the Bandits.

"Can you all just do us a favor and kill yourselves now? I think that would be for the best." She ordered.

Rein

"Thanks." Rein said, giving Kegan a kiss. She detached herself from Kegan and limped over to the bed, easing herself onto it.

Caesar, Bandits

The bandits chuckled amongst themselves as Susanna's orders seemed to have no visible affect on them. A man from the bandits stepped forward.

"Sorry Missy, but that ain't gonna work here. A scout of mine saw what you did to those Orcs earlier. I suspected whatever you did was caused by eye contact, so I had our resident Humage put some protective spells around our eyes. I don't know what he did exactly, but there's a thin layer of magic covering our eyes that prevent your power from affecting us." a bandit sneered.

Tsuba, Maul

Tsuba surveyed the cave. It was pretty spacious, surpringly. It would do, for now. Personally she couldn't wait to sleep on an actual bed.

"You're one cold-hearted bitch for one so beautiful," Nebi told her, shivering a little so that the bandits would buy it.

Not really. I know how... hot you can be, Nebi told her, smirking inwardly.

"Yes. I was wondering what happened to you," Baruti informed him with a frown. He gave the guard his full attention and said in a tone that brooked no disobedience, "Explain yourself."

Kegan

"Great. You make yourself comfortable and I'll collect some fruit from outside." Kegan reassured Rein before quickly running outside, running back in just a few minutes later with a few pears. "I hope you don't mind eating fruit again, but it is the easiest thing I could find." He informed Rein before handing her a few pears.

Carlisle

"Wow...this cave is pretty big." Carlise noted as he walked past Maula and Tsuba towards the farther end of the cave. Though oddly enough, he still couldn't see an end even after walking twenty feet through, it just got extremely dark instead. "Hmm, I wonder how long it goes...."

Rhys/Brighe/Clara

"Of course, Sir. Heir Caesar has decided he wants me, and Lady Susanna Mignon's cousin Katherine, dead. I know that you yourself have said that no one is allowed to kill any of the Heirs, besides the Heirs themselves of course. So I took the only option that made sense and was legal, I left my post, and took young Katherine with me, to my Estate. Heir Caesar and Lady Mignon think that young Katherine is dead, and Lady Mignon blames me. It's not a very ideal situation, Lord Steward." Rhys explained with a straight face as he stood stiffly.

"Wow, so that's why Susanna's been so moody lately." Clara muttered as she back in her seat.

Susanna

"Oh, I suppose we'll have to go about this the old fashioned way after all. Oh well." Susanna said as she pulled a dagger from Caesar's belt, looking almost entirely unphased by the danger the Bandit's posed to her and Caesar.

Rein

"Oh, no, it's fine! I enjoy fruit, actually." Rein said. She began to eat the pears. Not all that bad, actually.

"Thanks for the food, Kegan. And I'm...sorry about earlier. If I upset you."

Caesar

Caesar withdrew a dagger of his own before pouncing on the bandits, stabbing one in the heart before slashing another's throat. Ah, how alive he felt! Combat, especially lethal combat, was always a favorite pass-time of his. Not knowing if this would be your last battle, wondering who you might slay next, it was all so...exciting.

Tsuba

"It's probably best we don't find out. This cave could branch off, and we could end up getting lost." Tsuba pointed out.


C.C.

"Come on, boy." C.C. grabbed Nebi by his right arm and began to drag him toward the forest. "Time to face your punishment."

"Make sure your screams are convincing too."

"I see. This is a most.... interesting turn of events," Baruti noted, closing his eyes for a moment, trying to view the future. His expression was unreadable when he continued, "I trust that Katie is safe?"

Evelyn smirked. Oh, this should prove amusing indeed. She couldn't wait to turn these events to her advantage.
