Avatar: The Legend of Azula, Book 1: Air

Toph laughed. "Not anymore. We're shaving you bald."

Azula also looked to Aang for an answer. They had to have. Didn't they build all the others? But how was it possible to build them? They were upside down on the edge of a cliff!

"So you like bald guys, huh?" Cheng teased her with a grin.

Aang

"Yep, when the Four Nations formed and everyone was making their civilizations, the Air Nomads started building these temples, and have been around for a long time," Aang said, feeling smart. Of course, he could not remember anything specific, and wasn't sure when the temples were actually built... but that was irrelevant.

((You did have Suki for awhile, but I decided to give her to Toko. I didn't think you'd mind. Well, once I'm sure exactly who has Yue, I'll PM them with what was planned between Zuko, Yue, and other events.))

[[ Oh okay. ^^ I'm not crazy! ]]

Toph just snickered. "I bet you the Avatar likes bald guys. There would be another deformity in her system."

"When can we explore?" Azula suddenly blurted.

(Lolx3 you can have Yue, since I took Suki from you. XD)

On Ji nodded in agreement. She wanted to explore the temple too. But unlike Azula she had time to explore the place. Azula was here for training.

"I would love to explore this place. It's amazing."

((Ok then. I'll PM you shortly Lol.))

Admiral Xin Fu

"Hello, princess."

Xin Fu, flanked by two soldiers, walked into the bar Toph, her grandfather, and most of her crew were in.

"I've been promoted to admiral by the Earth Emperor. He has commissioned me to acquire an invasion force to take the Western Air Temple."

Guide

"Patience, Avatar. The Council will wish to know you have arrived." the guide said. The three guides, all women, led the group through the temple. Eventually they led the group to the council chambers. The guides bowed, and motioned for the others to do so. At the center of the room four woman layed in meditative positions. They all stood up and gave their own bows.

"It is an honor to meet you, Avatar Azula. Fire Lord Iroh has told me great things about you. I am Headmaster Ying, the current leader of the council of this temple. I welcome you to my home. The woman to my left is Councilwoman Myu, and to my right Councilwoman Sayu. And to the right of her, is my daughter Ty Lee. We are the leaders of Western Air Temple."

((Now Ty Lee can be introduced.))

(But who will be our new Sokka? XD)

Ty Lee looked up at the Gaang (would it still be called the Gaang?) and smiled. She felt a little jealous of them. But only because they could travel at will. She was stuck here. But Ty Lee wasn't going to complain. She loved her home.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all. I hope you enjoy your stay here."

On Ji nodded. Ty Lee was pretty and she looked like a good person. "Thank you."

Cheng frowned as the admiral walked in. What did the Earth Emperor see in him. He asked, "Then why are you here?"

[[ It can't be called the Gazulang can it? xD ]]

Azula bowed in respect. "A pleasure to meet you all too. I look forward to training here and also to learn ... some history of the temple." She wanted to say 'learn the secrets of the temple', but she decided otherwise.

"Status is nothing in my eyes, Admiral." Toph remarked. Her father probably promoted him because he felt bad that she had beat him. Of course that was a while ago... His other's probably retired. Who knew really? "The Western Air Temple is no where near easy to get an entire invasion force into. No one has succeeded..." Toph was very tempted to tell him to go crawl in a hole in die, but she held her tongue.

Admiral Xin Fu

"Indeed. But I have an ace up my sleeve. When the Western Air Temple is attacked, I will strike at their heart. Why am I here? Because, I am building up the Fire Nation's largest fleet. I need every available ship in the Navy. Which is why, as of this moment, I am comendering your crew and ship." Xin Fu stated with a smirk.

Zuko, Elders

"It is an honor staying here, Elders." Zuko added.

The head councilwoman stood up and walked toward the group. "It will be an honor having the Avatar being taught here. The last time we had the Avatar here, it was when Yangchen was alive. It will be great to have you here, Avatar..."

The Elder trailed off as she noticed Aang. "My my, you have a male airbender with you. How curious...I thought all our brothers were dead..."

((Why Zuko of course. He's perfect to be the new Sokka. Wait...then Sokka is the new Zuko....no, Toph is....then Katara is the new Toph and....my head hurts just thinking about it.))

Aang

"Not all of us. I don't know about any others, but I escaped with my mentor. He couldn't complete my training because of a... bad injury, so I'm glad I can learn airbending here," Aang said.

"What?!" Toph exclaimed. "No way! Get off my ship and don't set foot on it again. You won't lay a hand on anything within sight of my ship. I don't care if you're a stinking Admiral." It was getting even more tempting to tell him to go crawl in a hole and die.

Yue also bowed. "It's an honor to be here." It was rather spectacular. The temple was very impressive and she looked forward to watching Aang train. She knew how much he wanted to complete his training.

(LOL. They're surprised to see a male Airbender? Maybe Aang will be needed to... make more.)
"I don't fight for gloryhounds," Cheng said evenly, gripping his sword for comfort. There was no way he was going to fight for Xin Fu.

(So Ty Lee is an airbender? And I was thinking it would be Zuko.)

((Yes, she is.))

Elders

"Ah, I see. It is good to see some of our brothers survived the massacre of Kyoshi. However...you may not be able to learn." the councilwoman carefully said. An older Elder stood up and approached the gang.

"I am Yuon, the Western Air Temple's best airbender and greatest teacher. I will teach the Avatar. However...I do not care if you are one of us, boy. I do not teach men."

Xin Fu

"First of all, we're in a naval base. Not your ship. Second of all, you are a banished princess and I'm an admiral. Until your banishment is over, you hold no rank in the Empire. I am an Admiral, and whatever I ask, I get. I am under direct order from your father to take every available ship needed, including yours. I'm afraid you have no say in this matter." Xin Fu stated.

Ty Lee looked at Aang in sympathy. She didn't always like the traditions, but she followed them. After all, as the head councilwoman's daughter, it was her duty to do what was best for her people, especially in these hard times.

"If you'd like, I would be glad to show you all to where you will be staying."

On Ji smiled at Ty Lee and nodded. She felt sorry for Aang. He wasn't going to be able to train here it seemed.

Aang

Aang's good mood dropped from him as soon as he heard that. "Wait, what? I don't understand, why does it matter if I'm a boy, I'm still an air nomad!" He knew that the two genders were seperated, but in this desperate time, it never crossed his mind that the remaining nomads might not teach him, even though he was probably the last able male air bender.

Bumi

"Admiral Xin Fu, surely you don't need my granddaughter's small ship and crew in your massive invasion force," Bumi said, trying to defend his granddaughter's position. Of course, senile as he was, he knew the Admiral had it out for her.

"With all due respect that's not fair! He's an airbender, you're an airbender. You guys are kin basically!" Azula tried to stand up for Aang, but knew it was hopeless.

Yue frowned. There was nothing she could do. But he'd learn somehow, she knew it.

Toph turned around to face her grandfather. "What would happen if I slapped him right now?" Her hand twitched as if already putting that plan into action.

Xin Fu

"Of course I need her ship. We need every available ship I can get. Every ship counts, after all." Xin Fu stated.

Yuon

"It is tradition. The males are taken to train in the Northern and Southern Air Temples, while the females are taken to the Western and Eastern temples to train. It has been this way for two thousand years, and I am not about to break tradition. I am sorry, but I will only train the Avatar. Not you." Yuon said strictly.

"You have plenty of ships already," Cheng said darkly, "You're just doing this out of spite."

Bumi

"Very well then, you do have the authority to take it," Bumi said, acting as if it didn't bother him that Toph was about to lose the only transportation she had.

Aang

"That tradition was created when there were temples and masters to train boys too! But there aren't now," Aand said, determined to make his point. "With all due respect, times have changed!"

"Grandfather!" Toph yelled. "You do know we'll have to walk on foot now right?" It was official. She was totally peeved.

Azula looked over at Aang with pity. They'd think of someway. Someway Aang would learn airbending, even if she had to teach it to him... She held back a gasp. That was it!

Yue did agree with Aang, but did not speak up. She knew that they weren't about to break a tradition.
