This Is My Life (Started but still Accepting)

Yua just smiled when he said that she must not be from another here. She looked around the house, fansciated by the simpleness of it. But it was different from the simpleness of her world's home. This one had no traces of magic or anything relating to it besides some objects. But they didn't seem to be used in the traditional way. It was so interesting. Yua liked this place right away.

"So this is where you live? It's amazing."

(I decided she's not going to mess up his name. But I do want her to call him by his last name at first.)

Ken

"Thank you, it's nice to hear someone appreciate all the hard work I put into this place," Ken said, getting out some cleaning products. "Oh, I never introduced myself. Sorry, I've kind of been out of it today. My name is Ken, Ken Ridgers." He thought for a moment, then he looked up at her. "Do you want a drink, or something to eat?"

'Ken Ridgers? What a strange name. But of course he is a human. Maybe it's not strange to him.'

"I am a bit hungry. What do you have to eat Ridger," Yua asked, being respectful towards Ken by calling him by his last name.

Ken

"Uh... you can call me Ken," Ken said, a little put off. "I think we some fruits, and there are some crackers, and peanut butter," Ken said, looking through the pantry and refrigerator. "You can come look and see if there's anything in here you'd like."

"I can't call you by your first name," Yua told him, not getting this strange human custom. 'We are not close enough for me to do such a thing. If I did call you Ken, it would be disrespectful."

Then Yua looked through the food, wondering again about humans. Finally giving into the weirdness that was the situation, she grabbed an apple and began to eat.

Ken

"Not close enough? Well, I guess I can't make you call me Ken," Ken said, shaking his head. "I have some chores to do, you can watch tv or something if you'd like." This certainly has been a strange day, Ken thought. Somehow I wind up with this girl, Yua, in my house and I don't even know her. Maybe I'm too nice.

"Thank you Ridger," Yua said. He was very kind and Yua was glad that if she had to run into anyone, it was him. Still she wasn't sure how he would take the news of them being connected or that she was still being chased after. But Yua didn't worry about it too much. After all it would take them some time to get here and to find her too.

Ken

A few hours later, Ken had finished cleaning and prepared dinner, enough for three people. He walked over to Yua, and said, "I'm just going to warn you, my mom isn't the friendliest person when she comes home from work. So, please don't be offended if she's rude, she's just not used to people she doesn't know being in her home." The lock on the front door was clanking, and Ken looked over to it, "that's her."

"Don't worry. My mother is the same. Expect that she's overly protective of me. I mean she does have good reason to be, but still. I am strong enough to take care of myself. I don't always need her breathing down my neck."

Yua looked at the door, prepared to meet Ken's mother. Even if she wasn't exactly friendly at first, Yua was sure she'll like her.

Ken

Ken would have answered, but the front door opened and Ken's mother came in. "What a day, I thought it'd never end. I swear, Mr. Harriss has no sense of decency in him," she said, and reached the living room. "Do you know what he had me doing today, in addition to the work I already had to do? Organize the files for the accounts we had ten years ago!" She stopped when her eyes met Yua. "Kenneth Ridgers! You know you're not supposed to have company over when I'm not here! Who is this anyway?" "This is Yua, I ran into her today and she was being chased by some people, and I couldn't just leave her, so I asked her to stay here for a little while, until it was safe enough for her to go." Ken's mother paused for thought and then said, "look, I've had a long day. She can stay for dinner, but she has got to leave after."

The Heads

Ni'Usa, Rioghnan, and Nara Blud were gathered before a group of five people, the heads of their realm. "Ni'Usa, you let Reyuantye escape our realm," one of the five said. "We don't care what kind of excuse you have, it won't matter if you complete this mission for us. The three of you will go after her, into the human's realm, and you will bring her back at any cost."

'Leave? She wants me to leave? But I can't.'

Yua wondered if she should mention anything to the woman, but decided that it would be better just to tell Ken what was going on. She didn't want the woman to worry about her and she didn't seem as open minded either.

"Thank you ma'am."

"Yes sirs," Ni'Usa said. She was mad at herself for failing them. And she was so close to getting her too. But she knew that this was not over. The girl may be with the humans, but she was far from safe.

"I will not fail you again. But why do I have to work with these two? Surely I can handle this alone," she protested.

Ken

As his mother went into her room to change out of her work clothes, Ken breathed a sigh of relief. "Wow, got off easy," he said. "Hey, I'm sorry you'll have to leave, but I can escort you somewhere else. Is there any place you can be safe?"

The Heads/Nara

"Like you handled it before," he asked. "We don't trust you to accomplish this alone, Ni'Usa. Rioghnan and Nara will be more help than you need, hopefully." "Think of them as insurance, this way, you couldn't possibly fail again," another spoke up.

"Hey, don't be too glum, princess," Nara said, smirking. "It's not like I can't pull my own weight. Just better watch your tounge, I don't deal well with sassy little snobs."

Rioghnan


Rioghnan looked at the two beings who would be his partners on the mission. It had been quite a while since Rio had ben asked to work with someone, and these two seemed a bit too...prideful and dysfunctional for tastes. But if the heads had decided that he would work with them then he knew there was no point in disagreeing.

The magical assassin looked back at the Heads and listened for more instructions.

Rory/Dylan


"You don't need to bring him a frickin pie, Rory, I'm pretty sure he has dessert at his house." Dylan complained as he watched his sister try to wrap up the pie pastry she had made that day, not leaving any at home for the family, which is what concerned Dylan most of course.

"He's your best friend, shouldn't you want to see and help him?" Rory asked as she looked up from the counter and pleaded to her brother.

"It's because I'm his best friend that I know he doesn't want pie. He wants some alone time to recharge his batteries." Dylan answered in a frustrated tone.

"Well I'm not staying there, I'll just take him the pie myself while you sit on your but doing nothing here then." Rory replied matter of factly as she picked up the now packaged pie and walked to the door.
"Bye." She said before leaving the house and turning in the direction of Kenny's.

The Heads

"Failure is not an option. You three will work together effectively, or you will be killed, and others will replace you. You are the best in your fields, find a way to make it work," the first head said. "No need to worry, I won't let these two mess anything up, we'll get you your girl back in no time," Nara said to the Heads. "Let's hope not, Nara, because you will be the first to die if any of you should fail," the third head said. "Me? Why," Nara asked. "Because of your big mouth," the second said. Nara glared at them, and truned around. "Let's go," he said, walking out of the room.

Ni'Usa shot Nara a dirty look, but didn't say anything. No need to cause any problems right now. She was upset about her failure and that now she needed to have "help", but she knew better than to argue with the Heads. After all she would show that she was better.

"I understand," she said.

"Yes here with you," Yua replied. "There is no way I can leave this house unless you come with me."

Ken

"Wha... what are you talking about," Ken asked, chuckling slightly. Surely this was a joke, or she was just really frightened. "There are tons of places you can be safe. If you know who's chasing you, we can go to the police, they can help find them, put them away. You don't need me to feel safe, besides there isn't much I can do anyway," he said.

Heads

"Go then, don't fail," the heads commanded simultaneously.

(So mstm, should she tell him now? I just want to be sure.)

Ni'Usa turned on her heel and headed to another room. She knew the other two would be with her soon. She just didn't want to give them a chance to say anything to her. Yes Ni'Usa was being a brat, but she didn't care.

She blinked when she reached the portal, not sure how different the human world would be. Then she entered.

((Yeah, that's fine))

Nara

"Hey, slow your roll," Nara yelled after her, but she was already off. "This will be fun," he muttered, walking after her. At least his pets would be with him, that would help lessen the insufferable traits of his partners.

Yua looked up at Ken with a gentle smile. She was sure he would understand everything. That he would accept it. After all he seemed kind and strong. Yua looked around to make sure his mother was not around. Then she took a deep breath and told him.

"I am not from this world, Ridger. I come from one that is close to this world, only it deals with magic. I came here to escape from these people called Heads. They rule over my world. And they want to use me for something. Something bad," Yua stopped here and checked again to see that no one was listening besides Ken. Then she continued. "A friend of mine helped me get here, but upon coming here, I ran into you. And something happened. When we touch we were bonded on a spiritual level. Some of my magic is gone, it's with you. You must protect me now. Please understand this. If you don't help me, they'll be able to take me and who knows what will happen to my world."

Yua finished with a sigh. She looked expectly at Ken, believing he would understand her situation.

Ken

Ken looked blank for a moment and said, "so you think that you're from some other magical world where your leaders are after you, and you escaped, and ran into me, and I have magic now and I have to protect you." He looked at her and said, "...you must have hit your head or something. Magic isn't real." She's nuts! She must have escaped from an asylum or something, and the people chasing her are people to take her back to the nut house, he thought, trying to make sense of the situation.

Yua began to laugh. Of course! She would have to prove herself first. Then he would know that she was telling the truth.

"Of course there is such thing as magic. Here I'll show you."

Yua looked at a picture of Ken at a young age. Suddenly the picture appeared in her hands. She looked at it.

"You were so cute as a kid," she told him.

Ken

A picture of Ken suddenly appeared in Yua's hands, and Ken staggered back. "How did you do that," he asked. Magic, maybe, or she could have set something up, but it would be elaborate to set something up that could make a picture suddenly appear in her hands. He walked over to where the picture had been, it was definately gone. He couldn't tell if there were any secret compartments nearby to let it fall away somewhere.

"You do believe me, don't you Ridger?" Yua was getting a bit nervous about him. Still she couldn't stop trying. He was meant to protect her now and she was not going to let silly human rules stop that. "That magic is real and you must protect me?"

Ken

"Ok, you may or may not have magic, but what's that got to do with me anyway," Ken asked, getting a little overwhelmed. "You should be able to take care of yourself, if you've got magic powers. I don't see why you need me."

"I told you. You have a power that will protect me. If I still had it, then I wouldn't bother you about this, but because we are bonded, only you can protect me," she explained.
