Character Songs

I feel like any of the characters who feel like they might be judged for doing something they thought was necessary would fit the song. So Rhys, Syrien, Tsuba, Carlisle, Kegan, and possibly, (In a twisted way) Caesar, C.C., and Silence/Eiden might all fit the song. Which I suppose is almost a complete gender swap for the whole thing, but they all would fit the theme of "If you had been there, if you had seen it, I bet you you would have done the same" that the song is all about.

Interesting thought there. Hm. I wonder what couple might fit "By The Sea" also from Sweeney Todd. If any couple fits that. Perhaps Rein and Kegan, in their grand dream of their lives.

Ooh, I just had an interesting thought. What do you think would be the most appropriate song to describe the relationship between Tsuba and Carlisle?

Hmm, I'm not sure if one song would fit it, considering they both look at the relationship in very different ways now.

I'd say for Tsuba, One Day I'll fly away from Moulin Rouge would be the song she would have originally had, with it's "I want romance, not yet, but when I can have it." sort of feel. Now I'd say the song she'd sing would actually be Nowadays from Chicago.

When he was enamored with her, I'd say Hold Me Tight by the Beatles would have fit Carlisle's feelings for Tsuba, short as they were. I'd say now that he's with Mab, Carlisle's song for his feelings about Tsuba would be Across the Universe by the Beatles.

What song do you think could fit the both of them?

Very true. Hm. I do not know. My knowledge of musicals and songs is limited to a select group. Let me think. Maybe something from a good Disney musical? Hunchback, perhaps? I dunno.

Speaking of Carlisle and Mab I find the sound Enchanted by Taylor Swift to fit them well. But since we are talking about musicals I feel the song My Defenses are Down kind of fits with Nebi about C.C. Imo. Not sure if it does.

I really can't think of anyone other songs for my characters for musicals right now.

Another song from Taylor Swift is Innocent. From Mab to Carlisle regarding his backstory and how she forgives him for his mistakes and still sees his as this good person she loves.

I also see this song for Samy.

This song right here (Hand of Sorrow by Within Temptation). I have a feeling that it could apply to a number of characters from Succession/Rebellion, even parts of it relating to one or more.

Though I'm not sure if any character fits the song entirely.

I have a song, but not a character to match it to. Can any one here think of a character that this song would fit?

I feel like the song "She's not There" by the Zombies sort of fits Caesar, Katie, and Rhys as a song sort of to each other in general, with all their confusion around the whole Susanna death issue and what lead up to it. (They're all missing pieces of it, really, and that's never going to change.)

I see Human by Ellie Goulding as an almost perfect song for Amy. Her fascination of humans and her sometime desire to be human. Or experience human life.

I think this song fits Caesar rather nicely, myself. In my opinion.

This is such a Siv and Connor song, in the POV of Siv. Siv is a slave character of mine, while Connor is a pirate of Plague's. Ever since they were put into a pirate RP together, there has been nobody else for the two of them. And we've continued writing their story via collab.

The first two lines are about how Siv has her whole life ahead of her, but she never takes chances, never does anything contrary to what she was raised to be--a slave. She's lived a sheltered life, and she views her life of slaverly as safer than any other life.

'Cause it's been fear that ties me down to everything
But it's been love, Your love, that cuts the strings

Siv is afraid of change, and afraid of freedom. She insists that she is happy as a slave, but really she's just scared of life. But when she falls for Connor, and when he treats her like an actual human being, she starts to change, slowly.

This is Siv wanting to please Connor. She doesn't want to disappoint him, and she doesn't want to be a burden to him, and so she tries her best to put on a brave face and to be strong for him. And the more time she spends with him, the less she wants to be a slave (though she has not figured that out yet).

Being a slave and treated like an object all of her life, it is no wonder that Siv doesn't think much of herself, and sees herself as 'small'. And she's been taught only to speak when spoken to, and to answer 'yes, Master', 'no, Master'. As one of the pirates remarked about her in the RP, 'she's a drone'. But she's growing more and more comfortable with saying Connor's name, and she's falling deeper and deeper into love with him.

Why did I take this vow of compromise?
Why did I try to keep it all inside?

Plague and I aren't quite this far in the collab, but at one point Siv is going to start questioning why she allows everybody to decide her life for her. And when Connor leaves her, thinking that she's happy being reunited with her family, she's going to wonder why she didn't let him know how much she cared about him.

Siv has never had anybody believe in her before, not in the way that Connor does. But both of them are afraid to tell each other how much they love one another. If they had known, that would have changed everything, but instead Connor leaves her.

I love those last few lines of the song. This whole song fits Siv really well, but it is these last few lines that really nail her and her love for Connor. She's not content with a life without Connor, and she will do anything to make him happy. For him, she'll be brave.
