(OPEN!) "The Way It Should Be, a Vampire Roleplay" co-owned by ELC and CS (T-T+)

((DISCLAIMER: My friend elmolikescookies and I developed this plot, and I wrote it, and it was not meant to resemble any particular vampire media plotline that came before it, and we apologize if it does. Dave Williams and Kimi O'Connor belong to elmolikescookies.))
In this world, many centuries ago, a Vampire was truly a Creature of the Dark. They awoke only in the night, and feasted on the blood of humans. In sunlight, unlike the myths, they would go entirely invisible, rather than burn. They transformed only humans who they deemed worthy, treated them like dirt, and mated and reproduced only with others of their kind. The only way to kill them was to run them through the heart with a stake, which turned them into a pile of ashes. Yet this was difficult, for these Vampires were utterly strong and fast. Though they were destined as youthful vampires to only grow to be 25, or stuck at an age past it, a Vampire such as this was always stealthy, outwardly attractive, seductive, merciless, threatening, hated, and powerful.
But nowadays, current times, many vampires have changed their ways. New vampires are raised to follow the new ways, and old vampires have changed. No one "changes" anyone if they can, human food can be digested, and animal blood supplements from vampire universities replace the "need" for human blood. These vampires, called Modernist Vampires (contemporary vampires), try to have harmonious and typical relations with humans, without hurting them in the former vampiric ways, resisting at all costs to give into human bloodlust. Modernist Vampires, called M.V.'s, have gone out in sunlight long enough that they've adapted to it, becoming only fuzzy around the edges, like a photograph of someone in motion, in it, yet visible. They blend into human society. Ones who were once of the former ways try to make up for their wrongs, and newer M.V.'s try not to get into such methods. Not everyone accepts them for they are, especially because of the past between the humans and vampires, but things between them are very mended.
Except between humans, M.V.'s and the Others, who live amongst them. Not all vampires are "peaceful" as the Modernist Vampires; some still follow the old ways. These vampires are called Traditionalist Vampires, or T.V.'s., as they are typically called. They have enormous hostility toward the M.V.'s, and their so-called ignorance of the Old Ways. They have the most animosity toward them, worse than any human could ever have. They still treat humans as far below them until they are a vampire, and then only if they are deemed deserving of being such; they try and harden all they force into their lifestyle of darkness and hatred and sadism and lies. They are drawn to violence. They come out in the night, strengthen themselves on the blood of humans. Traditionalist Vampires hold all the traits of the Original Vampire. But they are manipulative, like their stealthy ancestors, acting their way to a human, to get what they want, to destroy, or steal what they believe they need. They are nearly impossible to persuade in the matters of changing ways. Their physical strength outweighs an M.V.'s by an incredible amount.
The city of Midnight Heights is populated by humans, as well many vampires, both Traditionalist and Modernist. It has one out of two of the national vampire universities, which has renowned night classes for vampires who tire easily during the day, The United Vampiric University. With so many vampires in one place, conflict has surely risen. Some conflicts more gory than others. At night, the streets are populated by T.V.'s, who have their "meals" and produce their purebloods, only to disappear into the shadows, and many still becoming transparent in the daytime, unable to be detected by the law. Some T.V.'s are visible in such a time, which they use to their advantage, though it is not always encouraged, for how unorthodox it is.
Meanwhile, M.V.'s live their lives as normal as possible, alongside the humans, many of whom are very fearful. Most M.V.'s who have families, tend to only do so with other vampires, for fear of the T.V.'s wrath. The most hated of the T.V.'s, are half-vampires. And worse, vampires and humans who have produced them.
In recent years, tensions have been rising amongst Modernist Vampires and humans and the Traditionalist Vampires. Especially in Midnight Heights. Attacks against M.V.'s have become more frequent, even during the day, and more and more humans keep disappearing or dying or turning, or running with little success. Everyone tries to avoid the violence brought on by T.V.'s, some going on with their lives as if everything was normal.
Take the couple of 20-year-old vampire Kimi O'Connor, and 20-year-old human Dave Williams. The simple fact that they dated, and Dave's plans of proposal were things that could have brought incredible danger to them. But they lived as normal as possible. They had jobs. Kimi is a photographer, Dave a mechanic. But when Kimi comes home after a photographic excursion in Colorado, and announces that her and Dave are expecting, all things normal for them shatter.
They didn't expect their unborn child or children to be the one thing that makes the ticking bomb of the T.V.'s hatred and plots explode into what could be a full-out war.

History: As a girl, Tatiana's family moved often. She barely had enough time to get adjusted when they moved again. As a result, she's learned to never get her hopes up too high. However, once Tatiana got into college, she chose to not be like her parents. She anchored down her life. She moved to Midnight Heights and began taking online courses. In the meanwhile, she works at a bookstore.

Personality: is very at ease around humans and finds them very interesting, considering she never was one, is very kind and innocent, she likes to prove to people that she is not a monster and deserves to live among them, though she isn't so sure when she thinks about her barbaric brethren. She studies hard and is quite smart.

History: Her parents were both Modernists. Though her father had been a traditional before meeting his wife. As a very young child Elouise saw her father struggle with control, and though she loved him, she was disgusted. She was raised in a town near Midnight Heights where her family had a little more peace. She was mildly alienated from the other children, but found a few good friends. Other than that her childhood was relatively normal. Now she takes classes at the University and works in a cafe.

History: He was entirely normal until he got involved with a girl named Isabelle during his Junior year of college. One night after a party the two went back to his dorm room for some *ahem* fun. She changed him and for the next few years they hunted together as companions. After 5 years or so Alex was becoming tired of the way they lived and wanted more, and Isabelle was becoming tired of him. Then one night Alex found her sleeping with another man, so in his rage he destroyed her(or so he thought). Somehow in the back of his mind he knew that she'd survived, so he packed up, changed his name to Jesse and moved to Midnight Heights. There he made another change and became an M.V.

Personality: Seductive, manipulitive, smart, insanely jealous, vengeful, wrathful, conniving, and a bit sadistic. She intends to take revenge on the male gender for what happened in her youth.

History: While she was still human a male vampire raped her and liked her so much that he changed her. After destroying him as he had destroyed her, she set off to extract her revenge on mankind. She seduced Alex just as she had many others before him, but during their time together she saw something in his eyes that made her reconsider. So she made him her eternal companion. After roughly five years she tired of him and his weakness and returned to her old ways. Alex thought he had killed her, but he hadn't. It took her time to recover, but now she is after him. Partly for revenge purposes, and partly because she actually misses him.

Character Name: Leonardo Halse.

Vampire/Human?: Vampire, an unwilling M.V. He is working with local police to get rid of the T.V.s.

Age: Looks to be 25, because he was turned at , his true age is 1009.

Appearance: Leonardo stands a good 6 feet four inches off the ground, and even though he was born a vampire, and could not age over 25, his hair is a silvery white colour, and reaches down to the base of his neck. His eyes are blood red, and his skin is a pale white, like marble. He wears something like a pirate coat with a skull on the back.

Personality: He is laid back in what he does, and is somewhat insane due to his past. But despite being lazy he is extremely powerful, and once in a fight becomes a ruthless animal. Other than this he isn't very self conscious, and does what he wants, when he want's, save for when his life is on the line.

History: Leonardo Halse was born in the year 1000 AD to a family of traditional vampires in "The Holy Land." He would hunt, and he would kill, and day after day passed, where he was free to do as he wished. But he was fascinated by how humans fought, in battles. Using all of their force to suppress the other, it was quite admirable in his mind. He explained this to his parents once, and they became furious with him, and cast him out of their home. When he turned 95 the crusades had begun, and Leonardo had begun killing based on principle, only killing those he deemed unworthy of life, and sometimes he had to settle for killing animals. But at the time of the crusades many vampire hunters had come with the crusaders, to get some extermination done around Jerusalem, not wanting to share the "Holy Land" with the creatures of the night. He had learned this by receiving word about his parent's death. Leonardo decided he would join in on the crusades, fighting against them with the Hassassin tribe. It worked out perfectly for him. He would get to train and become more and more lethal in a style that was completely different from current Vampire hunting, and would also get as much free blood as he wanted from the enemy. This worked out for him for a good two hundred years, until the crusades ended. But war had changed Leonardo, it made him cast away his old sense of moral, and he would kill and eat when he felt the need, but didn't eat often enough for himself to become noticed. It was not until the renascence that his kills became more famous, and he was constantly being chased by the police and his life became a giant chase. His killings lasted till the colonization, by which point he had received the names Springheel Jack, and Jack the Ripper. Because of the chase lasting such a long time, his hair had become prematurely white, and because he had been a vampire so long, his formally dark skin was light, and his chestnut eyes were now blood red. Once colonization had come around he had moved to Newfoundland, the first British colony. There he re assumed the title Springheel Jack later on, and took a short dive into piracy. At the time of the first world war he went off to fight in war again, hoping to get his fill of blood from the battle field once more, and it would help him avoid the police. He was assigned to reconnaissance, which made his feeding harder to do, but he held tight, because as long as he was a spy he could avoid sunlight easily. He continued this tactic through the second world war, and then reappeared in Vietnam, and the Cold War, moving to America after the end of the second world war. With so many years gone by he had driven himself mad asking himself questions in his head, about his whole life. He lived his life from one meal to the next, and from one lover to the next every so often. He didn't really care who was a human and who was a vampire anymore, he just ate every so often. He spent four years with a human girl after the war, but in 1979 he was captured by police who the girl had apparently been working with to have him captured. This was after he proposed because she was having his child. She had drugged him and he was shoved in a concrete cell all to himself. It's been 30 years of thinking, and becoming less and less rational, with the occasional blood packet dropped down for him. Over the course of the last ten years there were people who stopped to talk to him from outside the cell, and the blood they have been giving him was odd, it wasn't human or animal blood, but it had the same nutritional value as a human's blood so he could remain just as strong as a T.V. Five years into this process he asked what he was drinking, and it was finally revealed to him that it was a substitute for human blood that they were trying to perfect. After another five years of consulting them on how to make a better substitute they took him out of his cell. They informed him on the current situation with vampires, and that his former lover was now dead. After a small freak out he was once again drugged, and when he awoke there was a collar on his neck. He was informed that they could terminate him at any moment with that collar, and that he was to help them get rid of the T.V.s, becoming a government assassin, and in exchange he received whatever human blood they could get a hold of, from blood donations. He is now meeting his "Handler" for the first time.

Personality: friendly, creative, funny, not shy, loves Dave more than anything

History: born a modernist vampire. Kimi was raised by her parents, and had a pretty normal life. Then kimi met Dave. Dave and Kimi were ten years old when they met on the corner of a street. Dave was watching cars go by and begging pedestrians for soup (or other food). Kimi felt sorry for Dave so she bought some food for him at a nearby wall mart. They'd been friends ever since. But when they were 19 they fell in love and yeah....um....did some stuff (FYI they were 20 at the time).....yeah...and now Kimi is pregnant with dave's baby...thats pretty much the history.

Other: Kimi is a photographer who went to Colorado for a 2 month photo expedition. right after the assignment was over, she got another one and had to stay away for another 3 months. during the first assignment, she learned that she was pregnant.

History: Dave's parents abandoned him when he was 5 days old at an old lady's houses. Dave grew up there, but the old lady didnt like him at all. She would give him food and a place to sleep, along with clothes and showers every 3 days. But that was all she would do for him. Then when he met Kimi he ran away to live in a junk yard. There he found an old truck that could run if it was fixed. Dave spent 3 years fixing the truck. Since he was only 13, he couldn't drive yet, he just lived in the truck. He still does now. When Dave was 19 he fell in LOVE with Kimi and.....you know the rest....yeah....anyway.. (im editing this next bit in now so if it doesn't make sense dont blame me) When dave was younger he babysitted for some extra cash. the kids he babysitted the most where actually his younger siblings! (His parents who were dumb) didn't recognise him. Dave didn't tell them he was their son because then he would have to move in with them. Sad, right?

Is still adjusting to new diet, sometimes feels uneasy whenever around blood.

History: (at least five lines) Laraline was raised by Traditionlist vampires, and thus led the life of one. She hunted often with her parents, watching them suck off innocent citizens during the night and eventually joining them. It was only when she turned 17, on her birthday, that she met a little orphan boy that was supposed to be her dinner. However, unlike the other Humans, this one did not run away. Instead he dropped to his knees and held her leg, begging for mercy and crying. Laraline was touched. She saw the dried blood staining her hands, and memories of the screaming victims filled her mind. She soon realised she did not want to lead this life. She gently pried off the little boy, promising not to hurt him and smiling. Then her parents came, saw her meal, and attacked the child, tearing him to shreds.

Enraged, Laraline leapt upon her parents, and killed them. She vowed to never,ever dig her nails through Human Flesh again, and became a M.V. Before she left the dead bodies of her parents, she picked up the remains of the little boy and gave him a proper burial.

History: (at least five lines) Mara, a daughter of a Chinese maid who worked in hotels, and a rich Englishman. Her Mother was cleaning a room of a guest, when he walked in and they saw eachother. The maid fell for his charming looks and began visiting his room more often, until she won his affections and they hopelessly fell in love. He promised to take her away from the demanding, very little-paid job of a maid to his homeland, in the U.K.,London, where they had their first child, Mara. Unfortunately, her Mother died giving brith to her brother, Leon, when she was 3. Since then, she's lived with her Father,living under his care, and Leon. When she turned 17, she decided she wanted freedom from her sheltered life and left for Midnight Heights. She's now in a rented apartment.

Personality: Bookish. He has a good sense of humor, and he tries to keep a positive outlook on life, even with the T.V.'s and the M.V's having so many problems with each other. Not to mention the fact that the humans were also being dragged into it.

History: (at least five lines) Garrett lived a pretty normal life until he moved to Midnight Heights for college. Sure he had interacted with both vampires and humans, but nothing too bad ever happened... until he moved at least. Then his life became a little turned around. He saw vampires left and right, most of the being M.V.'s, but there were also the T.V's mixed in.
It hadn't been too hard for him to adjust to the 'fantasy world' of Midnight Heights, but it was still strange. He had even found a vampire girlfriend, but there were too many times she almost slipped. Garrett was pretty fond of his life, so he broke up with her gently, and stuck mostly to his books.

Vampire/Human?: Vampire (M.V.) Audria has always felt this way, she can't really explain it. She's always had troubles killing Humans relentlessly. She finds it completely unnecessary to murder a Human without a second thought. She sees them as creatures with lives and feelings just like herself, and has grown an almost protective air for them.
Age: Born vampire; age 18.
Appearance: Audria
Personality: Audria is sweet, and somewhere between an optimist and a pessimist. She can be easily annoyed and irritable at her worst. She is strong and fights for what she believes in. Despite her kindness she can get rough when need be and never backs down from a fight. She doesn't trust easily.
History: Audria's parents were both T.V.s. When she refused their ways after some years into her life, they kicked her out without warning. And have refused to acknowledge her existence ever since. Audria befriended an M.V. and immediatly fell in line with their ideals. This vampire wasn't born one, and they had originally been no better than a T.V., but Audria hadn't held it against them. Two or so months after she had converted, this vampire she had become strong friends with was murdered by a T.V..

Personality: Leonore is a calm, logical girl. She enjoys fantasy/action/adventure/romance novels and sarcasm.

History: She was born human and lived a normal human life throughout her school days. After high school she decided she wanted to take a year before going to college to tour Europe. So, for the majority of her trip she enjoyed the sights and sounds of Western Europe, before heading to infamous Eastern Europe. She had arrived at her hotel in Romania near the mountains after dark in late April. She recovered from her travel, and the next afternoon she decided to go for a hike. She followed a game trail into the woods and used chalk to mark trees as she went. She didn't realize it, but she was headed up the mountain.
Leonore was startled to find a flat stone path hidden beneath the underbrush that seemed to be leading to stairs that had been carved into the side of the mountain. She tucked the chalk back into her pocket and started up the steps. An hour or so later, she found herself at a empty door frame that would not have looked out of place in a mine. Without hesitation, she entered the mountain.
Inside, she found a rectangular room with a path leading down the center and curving to the right toward another, more sinister looking door. To her left were large open windows of sorts, three perfect squares one after the other but without glass. Beneath the windows
was what seemed to be a flower bed. The greenery only broken by a large stone sarcophagus. To her left was another sarcophagus, but this one was cracked open.
Leonore followed the path to find it branched out before the door. One path lead through the door, the other lead to the other side of the cracked sarcophagus. She turned right, coming up alongside the opening. Feeling dazed, she moved the lid open more and closed her eyes.
There was a gentle breeze, then she was grabbed from behind in an almost familiar embrace. A hand teased her head to the right. For a brief second, she felt lips just above her pulsating vein in a macabre kiss before realizing that her skin had been pierced. In her dazed state, it did not occur to her that she could, should struggle with her assailant. Instead, she gave herself willingly to the waves of power, pain, and pleasure that emanated from that bite.
She was released, and turned to face the one that had came out of the sarcophagus. It was a man of roughly 25, he was tall, with wavy blond hair and eyes that reflected the blue light from the windows in a hypnotically beautiful way. His eyes spoke to something in her that understood, though she did not and she walked back to the other sarcophagus. A similar event was undertaken, and she found herself facing another man of 25. This one was slightly shorter than the first with brilliantly blue eyes and ruffled brown hair. She knew what they were, she had heard of them from her friends and teachers. They were vampires. Children of the night.
They glanced with each other, seemingly communicating something. She was too weak to discern what, though. Then they used one fang to cut into the vein on their wrists, and held them over her mouth.

Later she told James and Stat that it would have been more efficient to inject the venom with their fangs. Which sparked the conversation of 'how do you know that?'
(She's stayed with them since her turning a year and a half ago.)

Personality: Conservative gentleman. Bookish, but not extremely. Kind and gentle. Rather human. Known for feeling guilty for taking human life, while he was freshly turned at least.

History: Turned by an acquaintance who wanted a companion. James did not know about the existence of other vampires. He had never run into one as a human or vampire. He didn't live in an area that was populated by vampires. He and Stat (the acquaintance) stayed in James' hometown for a while before traveling and ultimately 'falling asleep' in sarcophagi in the mountains of Romania. Awakened by Leonore some years later.

History: Turned by a crazy old vampire, who then destroyed himself, Stat did not know about other vampires. The one that had turned him had rambled about many things that were quite easy to interpret as Stat being the last of his kind. He wandered for about a century before meeting James. He turned James, and they wandered together. (best friends everyone needs one) They grew tired of being the way they were, and went to 'sleep' in sarcophagi in the mountains of Romania. Awakened by Leonore some years later to find that there are more of their kind.
