Dawn of a New Prince (Star Wars/Avatar Crossover)

The deer-pig squealed as the boomerang struck it in the head. It stumbled forward somewhat before it collapsed, dead.

Toph grinned. "Nice shot."

"Pfft... Primitive my ass," Sokka stated proudly as he moved forward to retrieve the deer-pig and his favorite weapon. He checked the wound. Good, it was hardly bleeding which meant it wouldn't stain him when he carried the carcass back.

"Now we just need Katara to waterbend the fluids out and once I gut it, we'll have a proper meal," Sokka said. He knew Katara would do it, even if she got angry at him for upsetting Aang with his hunting. He remembered the last time he did all the work himself. She had to spend hours cleaning his clothes to get the blood out. True, it was chilly waiting for her, but he knew she wouldn't bare to have to do it again.

(I'm just wondering, when has Aang ever stopped Sokka from eating meat or hunting before?)

((...good question. He might disapprove, but I don't think he'd stop Sokka.))

Mara

"Good. Let's go, then." Mara said. She extended the starship's opening hatch and exited the vehicle.

OOC: I think it is just an exaggeration on Sokka's part, which is more or less in character anyway.

Toph licked her lips at the thought. "Good. I want some real meat. Fruit's nice and all, but I need some roasted meat ever so often."

(Well, I really meant the disapproval. He was upset. I was just thinking that Katara would get mad if Sokka brazenly dragged a blood carcasse into camp at the wrong time in front of Aang. Anyway, sorry. I'll think twice before I post.)

"That or arctic fish," Sokka agreed as he headed in the Temple's direction.

Zareal

"Very well," Zareal replied, heading out behind her. These survivors of Vader's crew, hopefully they would not have to kill them, but if there was no other way, the safety of the planet was more importnat than their lives.

"Arctic fish?" said Toph. "What does that taste like? I've only ever had green-gills before."

Whatever green was. All she knew was that was the name of the fancy fish dishes she had ate while still at the Bei Fong estates, and green-gills also made up most of the small meals she had eaten while on the road.

(And very in-character as well. LOL.)

"Well... They taste like regular fish, only sweet. My dad says it's kind of like regular fish sauted in mango sauce without having to make the sauce for it," he told her with a shrug, "He also said we used to sell it before... Well, before the War."

It bothered him sometimes that the Southern Water Tribe wasn't what it was like back when Gran-Gran was a girl. Especially after he saw what the Northern Water Tribe was like: bigger and with proper buildings. He certainly hoped Pakku and the others improved things on their visit to the South Pole.

Toph frowned. "I'm sorry about your village," she said. "It must've been hard." She sat back a little. "Gaoling never really thought about the War. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Some of the boys became soldiers, but no one much talked about what was happening."

Sokka paused, but managed to give Toph a small smile before realizing, once again, that she was blind. He shrugged, "It's fine. We survived and Gran-Gran's taking care of the village. We might be able to rebuild once Zuko, Vader, and the Fire Lord are defeated. Besides, it's good to see some places that can ignore the War."

"I guess so," said Toph. "Gives you some hope, I guess, that not all lives have been ruined... That there is happiness out there, after all." She chuckled. "Wow. That sounded really cheesy. And not altogether right, huh? You had to have had some fun in your village, some times."

"Aang must be rubbing off on you," Sokka teased before nodding at her statement, "Of course we did. There was penguin-sledding when were kids, fishing, hunting, and training was always. Then, there was always playing in the snow."

He scowled, "Katara always cheated at snowball fights."

"Snow..." A wistful look came over Toph's face. "I never got to play in the snow. My parents always kept me inside when it snowed in Gaoling, and that didn't happen a lot."

Sokka blinked in surprise. Since snow obscured her vision, he didn't really think she'd be fond of it. Now, he shook his head at yet another thing Toph's parents deprived her of in an effort to "protect" her.

He smiled, "Well, I guess we'll have to play in the snow sometime. You know, when we're not busy saving the world or running away from insane firebenders. You and Aang could come with us back home."

Toph jolted a little. She flushed and said, "You'd... You'd want me to come back with you? To your home?"

"Why not?" he asked her with a shrug, secretly pleased to see the flush on her face, "Gran-Gran will definitely like you and the kids will love to meet a real hero from the War."

He smiled cockily, "You know, after they get over seeing me again."

She snorted. "Of course. Because all the little kids love you." Toph smiled. "But, sure. Yeah. I'd go with you. You'd probably have to help me around, though. I don't think I'd be able to see all that well down there."

"Well, I'll be playing host anyway," Sokka told her before registering what she said before that, "And the kids look up to me!"

"I didn't say they didn't," said Toph. "I mean, they have to. You are taller than they are, aren't you?" She laughed before patting his arm. "Seriously, Sokka... I'm sure they do. You're a great guy. Who wouldn't admire you for being you?"

"Yeah, I know," Sokka told her with a broad grin on his face. He still couldn't get over how highly she thought of him, "Well, they'll admire you too, if you want to visit, that is."

"I already said I would, didn't I?" she asked. Toph grinned all the same, swelling with happiness. It meant a lot to her that he wanted her to come with him, to see his home and meet his family. "I meant that. I'd like to go with you."

"Good. I'd like you to come," he told her, unable to keep himself from smiling, "Once everything's taken care of with the Fire Nation and Vader, me and Katara will take you home. Aang too, if he wants to come."

"I think Twinkle Toes would go wherever your sister goes," said Toph, chuckling.

"Yeah. Great," Sokka commented sarcastically. Aang was an okay kid and if anyone was dating his sister, he was glad it was him, but he'd never get used to his little sister dating, "He's sort of like polar bear-dog cub that way."
