Peace or Not (Avatar Roleplay)

"I always appreciate a gorgeous woman's company," he told her with a grin, "And you're the prettiest one nearby."

Shizuka blushed. "You don't mean that. Suki and Ty Lee are both prettier than me."

"No, you're not. You're gorgeous. Why do you think I call you that?" he told her simply.

"I don't know. Won't most guys say anything to get girls," Shizuka asked, her face still red. She wasn't used to being complimented. At least not this sincerely.

"Very true. But I never lie," he told her with a shrug, "At least, not to people I actually like and I like you."

Shizuka blushed deeper.

"Th-thank you. You're not so bad yourself. For a killer that is."

"You're welcome," he told her with a smirk beneath his mask, "Maybe you'll get to see my handsome face one day."

Toph laughed. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. We'll just both make each other feel good." She gave his hand a squeeze.

Sokka grinned at her, "Well, that sounds like a good suggestion."

He squeezed her hand back and kissed her again.

"Hey, I can be smart too. Sometimes," she chuckled. She returned his kiss; she hoped she was getting better at this sort of thing. She might have teased him mercilessly most of the time, but Toph really did want to make him happy.

Sokka smiled into the kiss, deepening it before pulling away happily. He spoke, "You really are getting good at this."

"I've always been a quick learner," she said, blushing. She felt her pride swell with pleasure. It grew even more to hear him sound so happy. And that made her happy. She lay her head on his shoulder, as she had before, and kept her hand in his.

"I would like that," Shizuka admitted, half tempted to just rip off the mask now. But she didn't think that would be a wise choice.

Zuko packed quietly. He was thinking about his sister and how far gone she was the last time he saw her. He visited her a couple of times after the war ended, but she seemed to get worse and go into mad fits whenever he was around. So he stopped visiting her.

Now she was free and Zuko could only imagine what was going on inside of her head.

Sokka grinned and wrapped his free arm around Toph's waist before closing his eyes sleepily. He murmured, "No need to leave till morning, right?"

Mai frowned, watching her husband. He could tell that he was thinking about his sister. She placed a hand on her shoulder, "Are you okay?"

Zuko looked up at his wife and took a deep breath. He wanted to reassure her, but he didn't want to lie and she was friends with Azula before.

"No. It...it scares me to think that she's out there. Whatever sanity she had, she might have losted. I mean I know she has to remember things if she's sending assassins our way and wants to take over the Fire Nation and everything, but her morality I fear is gone."

Mai bit her lip, resisting the urge to ask him if Azula had any morality to begin with. She knew that wouldn't help matters at all. She spoke, "I'm sure we'll be able to catch her before she does anything."

"I know, but I don't know if I can take down my sister," Zuko admitted. He knew that she had to be taken care of, but he didn't want to hurt her. He feared if he killed his sister he'd be turning into his father.

Mai frowned, gently massaging his shoulders, something Ty Lee once told her to do when she wanted to relieve someone's stress. She spoke, "You're not your father, Zuko. If at all possible, I know you will save her life. IF not, then there wasn't any other way."

Zuko relaxed as Mai massaged his shoulders.

"You're right." He laughed shortly, shaking his head. "What would I do without you Mai?"

"Drown in your own angst," she replied smugly. Kissing his cheek before looking a bit shy and looking towards their bedroom. She smiled a little, "I don't know how Iroh put up with your anger problems."

"No need," she agreed. She grinned. "Just don't snore too loudly there, Snoozles."

"I don't know either, but you know Uncle. He probably dealt with enough as a kid that he was use to it by now."

He took Mai's hands in his and looked her in the eyes. "If Azula...if she's too dangerous I want you to go. She's my responsibility. I don't want anyone to get hurt."

Mai frowned, staring back in his eyes defiantly. She shook his head, "I am not going to leave you, ever. I will stand and fight by your side. She's as much as my responsibility as yours. I was the one that betrayed her and finally made her lose it."

"I should have known you would say that," Zuko replied, shaking his head. "Ok."

Mai smiked and kissed Zuko softly before pulling away with a pleased look on her face, "Good."

"I don't snore," Sokka told her, wrapping an arm around her with a laugh.
